William J. ("Roach") Grzywinski

William “Roach” J. Grzywinski, 81, of Scottdale passed away unexpectedly, Tuesday, October 24, 2023, at his residence while being comforted by his loving family. He was born June 2, 1942 in Everson, Pa. the son of the late Nell Grzywinski. Bill was a member of the Partner Parish of St. Joesph R.C. Church, Everson. He was a graduate of Scottdale High School Class of 1959. He attended AMF Technical for Pin Setting in Chicago. He was a Pin Setter for numerous Bowling Alley’s within the surrounding areas for many years. He retired from North Versailles Bowl after 60 years of service. He was a proud Veteran of the United States Marine Corp from April 1, 1964 through November 18, 1966 when he was honorably discharged as a Corporal. He was a Combat Veteran of Vietnam and was one of the first Marines to land in Vietnam in 1965. He was a longtime and faithful member to Post #595, Veteran of Foreign Wars, currently serving as Post Commander and has held various positions within the organization. He was also part of the Honor Guard, and A PAK member. Bill was an avid Gardner and was always known for getting “the First Red Tomato”. He loved to start all his own plants from seeds starting in the house in January until they were big enough to plant in the garden. He enjoyed giving tomato plants to his friends to plant in their gardens. He also played for St. Joes Softball League as a left-handed pitcher for many years, and in his spare time he enjoyed watching all Pittsburgh Sports. Bill is gone from our lives, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, His Wife of 55 years, whom he married September 7, 1968; Eva Ann Regalla Grzywinski of Scottdale His Loving Children, Patricia Ann Casey and husband Sean of Butler, Pa Bill Grzywinski and wife Jody of Burton, Ohio His loving Grandchildren Liam Michael Grzywinski Aniela F. Grzywinski In addition to his Mother, Bill was preceded in death by: Sisters: Jane Smith and Rose Marie Grzywinski Roach’s family will greet friends Friday, October 27, 2023 from 2 – 4PM & 6- 8PM in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683. Prayers of Transfer will be held Saturday, October 28, 2023 at 10:30AM in the Funeral Home, with his Funeral Mass to follow at 11AM in The Partner Parish of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Scottdale with Rev. Elmer Alforque as Celebrant. Committal Services and Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Scottdale. Full Military Honors will be accorded at the Graveside by the Scottdale- Everson Honor Guard Post #595. The Funeral Home doors will be locked between visiting hours.
