William Louis Gower,66, passed away on April 15, 2026, in Scottdale, Pennsylvania, the son of the late John and Eloise Dean Gower. Born on August 14, 1959, in Cleveland, Ohio; Bill lived a life marked by devotion to his family, steady hard work, and a kind spirit that touched everyone who knew him. Those who knew Bill will remember him as a loving, handy, and selfless man who could always be counted on to lend a hand or offer a thoughtful word. Bill was a member of the Scottdale Church of Christ. Bill was a graduate of Southmoreland High School, Class of 1978. After school, he went on to serve his country proudly as a veteran of the United States Army and Navy, an experience that reflected his sense of duty and commitment. Following his military service, he worked as a laborer and granite polisher for Excel Glass and Granite of Jeannette. He took pride in his work and was known for his strong work ethic, dependability, and attention to detail. Family was the center of Bill’s world. He is survived by his wife, Joyce M. (May) Gower of Scottdale, whom he was married for 31 years and they shared their life with love and companionship. He also leaves behind his stepdaughters, Jennifer Bell and her husband Kenny of Scottdale, and Janice Thomas of Connellsville. Bill was a proud grandfather to Jessica, Neil, Emma, Ethan, Bradley, and Josie, and a loving great-grandfather to Zayden and Landon. He is also survived by his brothers, John Gower and his wife Sandra of Scottdale, and James Gower and his wife Vicki of Las Vegas, along with a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins who will cherish his memory. His In Laws, Carol Ritenour, Bonnie Tucker, Edie Lucas, Ed (Gretchen) Bungard and Ken (Ann) Bungard. In addition to his Parents, Bill was preceded in death by: Cathy Snyder and Linda Welch Bill enjoyed the simple pleasures in life and found great happiness in spending time with his family. He liked playing cards, working around the house, and caring for the place he called home. He also loved spending time with his dogs, Chloe, Holly, and Pansy, who brought him comfort and companionship. Whether he was busy with a project, enjoying a card game, or simply sitting with the people and pets he loved most, Bill was happiest when surrounded by those dear to him. He will be remembered as a wonderful husband, father, and grandfather who gave generously of himself to others. In honoring Bill’s wishes, there will be no visitation. His cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683. A gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Saturday, May 2, 2026 from 1PM - 2PM at Scottdale Church of Christ 215 N.
