Timothy Rolison Obituary

Timothy E. Rolison Former special agent of the Coast Guard Investigative Service (CGIS) and police officer Timothy E. Rolison passed away on December 6, 2020 at age 57 from complications related to COVID-19. Tim is survived by his wife, Kristen Rolison (formerly Smeltzer) of Drexel Hill, Pennsylvania, his parents, Tom and Edna Rolison of Scottdale, and by his brothers Tom and Terry and their families. A memorial service will be scheduled when it is safe to gather. Raised in Scottdale, PA, and a graduate of Southmoreland High School in Alverton, Tim got his start in law enforcement in 1984 as a patrol officer with the Everson, PA Police Department. Tim served the state of Florida, the Jacksonville Beach Police Department, the Greene County, PA District Attorney’s Office, and the Uniontown, PA Police Department before joining the CGIS as a special agent in 1996. Tim was the regional coordinator for the High Intensity Drug Trafficking Area and Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force, working with agents across federal law enforcement to interdict narcotics smugglers along the south Atlantic coast. The U.S. Attorney’s Office in Miami awarded him as the outstanding law enforcement officer of the year in 2000 for his work investigating a Cuban migrant smuggling operation. In 2002, Tim became an Assistant Special Agent in Charge of the Miami CGIS office, supervising investigations of environmental crimes, in addition to narcotics offenses and alien smuggling. Tim became the Resident Agent in Charge of the CGIS office in Media, Pennsylvania in 2003. Tim retired from the Coast Guard in 2005, after being diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, a form of blood cancer. Following his retirement, he continued to serve in law enforcement for a few years with the Delaware County Sheriff’s Department and the Pennsylvania Fish and Boat Commission. Tim and Kristen met in Jacksonville, FL and married in 2000. They shared a passion for the outdoors, collecting and refurbishing classic cars, and their multiple cats. Tim will be remembered for his humor, for his encyclopedic knowledge of pop tunes and television shows from decades before his prime, interest in Harley Davidson motorcycles, guns, ham radio, and most of all for his good and generous spirit.

Tim's arrangements have been entrusted to the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. An Outdoor Memorial Service will be held Saturday, July 24, 2021 at 11AM in the Frank Kapr Family Garden with Military Honors to be bestowed by the Scottdale-Everson Honor Guard in the Family Garden following the Service.
