Tim Shoemaker Obituary

Timothy P. “Tim” Shoemaker, 67 of Scottdale and former Mayor of the Borough of Everson, passed away Monday afternoon, in the caring presence of his loving family, January 17, 2022 at Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant.

He was born March 17, 1954 in Vandergrift, the son of the late Elmer Evans and M. Ethel Booher Shoemaker.

Tim loved his Church and was a devoted member of Grace Fellowship Church, Everson where he was a Lay Minister and held many positions including President of Church Council, Pastor of Parish Committee, Choir member, Sunday School Teacher, Children Church Committee and was in charge of numerous Bible Studies.

He was the Former Councilman and Mayor of Everson Borough for 20 years, from 1990 to 2010 and Vice President of Everson Civic Organization whose members volunteered to install the beautiful Christmas lights each year which Tim thoroughly enjoyed so much that even when he became a Scottdale resident, he still volunteered his time putting up the lights and doing other projects for the community of Everson. Tim moved to Scottdale but his heart remained in Everson. Mayor Shoemaker was a member of the Fay-West Golf League and also managed the GSGSL for many years, the Men’s Church Dart ball League and was a member of Pennsylvania State Mayors Association.

Tim was an avid Runner and diehard Pitt Fan who bled Blue and Gold. Tim was a graduate of Kiski Area High School Class of 1972 and a graduate of WCCC. He retired as a Material Analyst for West Penn Power with 45 years of service.

Tim not only loved the Christmas Season, but the true meaning of Christmas. He loved to play Santa for families throughout the communities and of course decorating his home inside and out with the main purpose of preparing for the Birth of Christ.  He also decorated his home each Veterans and Memorial Day to show his respect to all Veterans.

Tim had the largest smile for everyone who he knew and met.  He was an honorable and kind man who loved his Family and was greatly loved in return.

Tim is gone from our lives, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
