The Honorable J. Bruce King Obituary

The Honorable J. Bruce King, 75 of Scottdale, passed away peacefully, Thursday evening, April 8, ,2021 at Excela Health Latrobe Hospital , in the caring presence of his loving Family.

He was born November 1, 1945 in Mt. Pleasant, the son of the late Jesse B. King Jr and Betty J. Miner King.

J. Bruce was a longtime and faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church, Scottdale where he  was an Usher for many years and currently was Head Usher for the past few years. He was also a member of the Church Finance Committee and the Pastor Parish Relations Committee.

J. Bruce was a graduate of Connellsville High School Class of 1963. He then attended State Police Academy for Municipal Police Officer Training, as well as obtaining multiple college credits. J. Bruce then began his employment by Scottdale Borough, as a Police Officer for a number of years. He then ran for the elected office of Magisterial District Judge, District Court 10 3 10. His Honor held the office from 1982 and retired in 2010. After retirement, he became a Senior Judge for 6 years. He also served as a Chaplin for the Magisterial District Judges of Pennsylvania.

J. Bruce was lifetime member of Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #87. He was a member of the Connellsville Elks and a member of the King Solomon’s Lodge #347 Free and Accepted Masons of Connellsville. He was also an Honorary Member of the Scottdale Volunteer Fire Department for a number of years.

J. Bruce was also a graduate of the National School of Meat Cutting of Toledo, Ohio.

In his spare time, he enjoyed cooking, baking chocolate chip cookies and grocery shopping. He loved his family, especially his grandchildren.

J. Bruce was a loving husband, father and grandfather to his family. He was a an Honorable, Kind man, who loved his Family and Church and was loved in return.

The Honorable J. Bruce King is gone from our lives, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him, His loving and devoted wife, of 54 years, whom he married March 12, 1964,

Amy King Allegra and husband Joseph of Scottdale

Jenny Beth King Hackett and husband Jonathan of York, S.C.

His Grandchildren:

Seth King, Kayla Fox and Fiancé Zachariah Clark, Joshua Allegra, Brianne Allegra, Aubrey Hackett and Jacob Hackett.

His Great Grandson:

Elijah Clark

His Brother-In-Law: Gerald W. Newell and Fiancé Vicki Ruvo of Connellsville

And a number of Cousins

His Granddaughter: Faith Renee Hackett (Feb, 19, 2008)

His Brother-In-Law: Charles E. Newell

Family and Friends are cordially invited to the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale, Monday from 1 PM – 4 PM & 6 – 8 PM in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale.

His Funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 10AM at Christ United Methodist Church, Market Street, Scottdale with his Minister, Rev. Kathleen Barnhart, officiating.

The Fraternal Order of Police Lodge #87,  will conduct a Memorial Service, Monday at 7 PM in the Funeral Home.

Those who will be attending the Funeral Service are asked to go directly to the Church.

Committal Service and Interment will follow in Scottdale Cemetery.

Those who will be attending the visitation and Church Services, are required to wear a mask and please use social distancing.
