Tanis L. Bumba DeFrank, 79 of Mt. Pleasant, passed away peacefully early Wednesday morning April 29, 2026, in Independence Health Hospital Greensburg. Born on May 5, 1946, in McKeesport, she was the daughter of the late Dennis and Ruth Hoffman Bumba. Tanis was a woman whose life was defined by love, passion, and selflessness, and she shared those gifts generously with everyone blessed to know her. She was a member of Our Lady of Grace Church in Greensburg and carried her faith with quiet strength throughout her life. Tanis was a graduate of Sewickley High School, Class of 1964. Following her education, she was employed by Dr. Bortz, where she met the love of her life, her late husband, Richard DeFrank, Sr. Their meeting began a lifelong bond that was built on love, companionship, and family traditions that would be treasured for generations. Tanis later retired from Fresenius Medical Care, where she served as a Dialysis Technician with 22 years of dedicated service. Family was the center of Tanis’s world, and she found her greatest joy in the time she spent with those she loved. She is survived by her children, Bernadette L. Harrold and her husband Raymond of Murrells Inlet, South Carolina, Trina Hribal and her husband Joe of Mt. Pleasant, Richard DeFrank, Jr. and his wife Kary of Greensburg, and C.J. DeFrank and his wife Kristina of Scottdale. She also leaves behind her twelve grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, who were a source of immense pride and happiness in her life. She is also survived by her sister, Sharon Weaver and her husband Jim of Herminie, as well as several nieces and nephews. In addition to her Parents, Tanis was preceded in death by: Her Husband, Richard DeFrank, Sr. and her Sister, Linda Crookston Tanis will be remembered for the many ways she made ordinary moments extraordinary. She enjoyed sewing, shopping, camping, and watching QVC, but above all, she cherished spending time with her family. One of her most beloved traditions was making matching Christmas pajamas for her entire family each year. She and her late husband would also dress as Santa and Mrs. Claus every Christmas season and read “The Night Before Christmas” with their family, creating memories that will live on in the hearts of those who shared in them. Tanis’s family will greet friends on Friday, May 1, 2026 from 5PM – 8PM in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683.
