Sallyann Bolosky Obituary

Sallyann Bolosky, RN, passed away peacefully on May 22, 2025 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania at the age of 92 surrounded by her loving family. Born on July 5, 1932, in Connellsville, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Ellen (Slavin) Bolosky. A proud graduate of Scottdale High School's Class of 1951, Sallyann's passion for helping others led her to pursue a career in nursing. She furthered her education at Mercy Hospital Nursing School, which set her on a life of compassionate service. Sallyann's spirit and energy were truly inspiring. She made a path for herself that took her to Denver, Colorado for 35 years, where she was a devoted nurse at University Hospital. Her warmth and care left an indelible mark on both her colleagues and patients and her visits back home during this time were always a highlight for her family and friends. She returned to Everson after retirement to lend a hand when family needed care. Family was the cornerstone of Sallyann's world. She is survived by her loving sister, Patricia DeRosa of Canfield, Ohio, as well as numerous wonderful nieces and nephews who will cherish her memory. Sallyann was a loving sister, aunt, parishioner, and neighbor who was always more willing to lend a helping hand than to accept one herself. Sallyann's love for life was evident in her travels, hobbies, and interests. An avid gardener, she found joy in the simple pleasures of nurturing vegetable plants in her yard. Her enthusiasm for sports was infectious and she remained a die-hard fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and especially the Pittsburgh Steelers. Sallyann was often seen wearing her Steeler’s gear. One of the highlights of her life was attending Super Bowl XL when Pittsburgh beat the Seattle Seahawks in Detroit. Sallyann's love for travel brought her closer to her family and friends, and together they shared many adventures. Whether in Cape Cod, Palm Springs, Ohio, Las Vegas, or Lake Chautauqua, Sallyann loved to spend time exploring new places. A highlight among these travels was a memorable visit to Ireland, a trip that celebrated her heritage and showcased her love for exploring new places with the ones she loved most. As a devote Catholic, she visited the Knock Shine in Ireland as well as Our Lady of Medjugorje in Bosnia and Herzegovina (then Yugoslavia). Those who knew Sallyann will remember her for her loving heart, her good conversation, her kindness, and her independence. Her presence was a source of comfort and joy to her family, and she will be deeply missed. In addition to her parents, Sallyann was preceded in death by her siblings, Lucille Kring, Teresa Miller, Edward “Sonny” Bolosky, and Dr. William Bolosky; her sister-in-Law, Carol (Camp) Bolosky; and her brothers-in-Law, Dr. Anthony DeRosa, Ralph Miller, and Frank Kring. Family and friends of Sallyann are cordially invited to view in the vestibule of the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Scottdale 416 S. Broadway St., Scottdale, Pa. 15683 on Saturday, May 31, 2025, from 12PM to 1PM the hour of her Funeral Mass. Committal Services and Interment will follow in St. John Parish Cemetery, Scottdale.
