Robert W. McGuinness, 81 formerly of Scottdale, passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening, August 20, 2023 at Eichers Personal Care Home, Normalville.
He was born February 28, 1942, in Connellsville, the son of the late Cyril Wayne and Virginia E. Gallagher McGuinness.
Bob was a longtime and faithful member of the Partner Parish of St. John R. C. Church, Scottdale.
He was a Graduate of Connellsville High School Class of 1960.
Bob was a Veteran of the U.S. Army serving with the Army Reserves of Connellsville.
He was a Life Member of the Scottdale Volunteer Fire Dept where he served as Chief, Assistant Chief and also as Captain of Company of #4. He was the recipient of the lifetime Achievement Award. He was a member of the state and Western Pa Firemen’s Association and served as a former Treasurer with the Scottdale Volunteer Firemen’s Club.
Bob was a retired Technician for Wayne Foods of Everson. In his spare time, he was an avid golfer and member of Timber Ridge Golf Courses and was proud to receive awards of 5 Hole-in-One.

Bob’s family will greet friends Thursday from 2- 4PM and 6 -8PM in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683.
Prayers of Transfer will be held Friday at 10:30AM in the Funeral Home with his Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 11AM in the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Scottdale, with Rev. Elmer Alforque as Celebrant.
Committal Services and Interment will follow in St. John Cemetery, Scottdale.
The Scottdale Fire Dept along with the Mt. Pleasant Fire Dept will conduct the Firemen’s Memorial Service on Thursday at 7PM.
The Funeral Home doors will be locked between 4PM – 6PM.
The Family would like to extend their appreciation to Connie and her staff at Eichers Personal Care Home, for the care and professionalism that was shown to Bob during his stay there.
As Bob would say….“ Don’t accept a wooden nickel, it’s not worth a dime”
