Robert Malik Obituary

Robert G. “Bob” Malik, age 98, of Scottdale, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully at his residence on May 27, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Bob was born on January 27, 1928, in Scottdale, Pa., and he remained deeply connected to his hometown throughout his life. He was a loving, spirited, and handy man whose steady presence and kind heart touched everyone who knew him. He lived a long and meaningful life marked by devotion to family, pride in service, and a lifelong appreciation for the simple joys that made each day special. Bob was a retired Telephone Technician with Western Electric Telephone Company, where he dedicated 27 years of faithful service. He took great pride in his work and was known for his skill, reliability, and strong work ethic. He approached every task with patience and determination, and he was the kind of man others could count on when something needed to be fixed or done right. His career reflected the same qualities that defined his life, including responsibility, perseverance, and quiet excellence. He was also a proud veteran of the United States Air Force during the Korean War. Bob held his military service close to his heart and spoke of it with great pride. He especially valued the opportunity to work on jet engines while serving in the Air Force, and that experience remained one of the most meaningful chapters of his life. His service to his country was an important part of who he was, and it stood as a lasting example of his courage, discipline, and commitment. Bob proudly owned Malik’s Pedal shop for many years and was well known throughout the community among adults and children. Bob had a warm and generous spirit that made him a joy to be around. He was an excellent swimmer and enjoyed the water throughout his life. He also loved ice cream and often claimed that it was his secret to living a long and healthy life. Those who knew him will remember not only his humor and charm, but also the way he embraced life with optimism and gratitude. He found happiness in everyday moments and shared that joy freely with the people around him. Bob is survived by, He is survived by his daughters, Susan L. Malik of Scottdale, who lovingly cared for him for many years, Chris A. Arrotti and her husband Thomas of Irwin, Marybeth Buckbee and her husband Douglas of Lake Orion, Michigan, and Tracy D. Snyder and her husband Randy of Jefferson, Ohio. He also leaves behind his grandchildren, David M. Ward and his wife Angela of Lithia, Florida, Mikaela E. Sainato and her husband Danny of Greensburg, Tanner B. Buckbee and his wife Liza of  Newport Beach, California and Sydney R. Snyder of Beaver Creek, Ohio. In addition, he survives his great-grandchildren, Brody A. Ward and Ledger J. Ward. In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death, Barbara C. Cavanaugh Malik (June 27,2009).The family would like to send a Special Thanks to Woodcrest Senior Living Community Staff for the amazing care, compassion and love that was given to Bob. As well as a Special Thanks to Interim Hospice of Pittsburgh, for the care, professionalism and guidance that was shown to Bob and his daughter Sue during this time. In honoring Bob’s wishes, private interment will take place in Scottdale Cemetery, at the convenience of the family.
