Robert Lohr, Jr. “Monk”, 97, passed away peacefully at his residence on January 17, 2025. Born on December 10, 1927, in Dawson, Pennsylvania, Robert's life was marked by unwavering love, faith, and a remarkable dedication to his family and community. Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 78 years, Wilma Jean Harkins Lohr, whom he married on August 15, 1946. Their union was a testament to enduring love and partnership. He was a loving father to his daughters, Judith Lohr Keffer of Dawson and Linda Lohr Mellinger, and her husband Terry, also of Dawson. Robert's legacy continues through his grandchildren, Kathy Keffer, Kim Keffer and husband Vernon Henry, Jason Mellinger, and Jody Mellinger and her husband Artie Bliss. His great-grandchildren, Felicia Cossell, Sam Spence and his wife Morgan, and Aubree Hill and her husband Dan, brought him immense joy, as did his great-great-grandchildren, Nova and Sawyer Neeld, Finn Cossell, River Spence, and Aiden Hill. In addition to his Parents, Robert was preceded in death by: Grandson: Josh Buhler (2014), Brother: James Earl Lohr, Sister: Viriginia Helms and his Son -In-Law: Sam Keffer. A man of deep faith, Robert was a longtime and faithful member of the Bryan Church in Dawson. His commitment to his faith community was a cornerstone of his life, providing strength and solace throughout his years. Professionally, Robert was a respected heavy equipment operator, having dedicated 25 years of service to Operator Engineers Local #66 in Pittsburgh. His hard work and skill were well known among his colleagues, and he took great pride in the contributions he made through his career. Beyond his professional life, Robert was an active member of his local community. He could often be found at Yough Lanes in Connellsville, where he was a member of the Senior Bowling League. His love for competition and camaraderie also led him to the horseshoe club in Mt. Pleasant, where he enjoyed many spirited games. Furthermore, Robert's athletic spirit shone bright as a former member of the Tyrone Church Softball League. Robert’s family will greet friends on Thursday, January 23, 2025 in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683 from 10:00AM – 12PM at which time his Funeral Service will begin with Pastor Matt Davis and Pastor James Myers, Officiating. Private burial will take place in Green Ridge Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that Memorials be made to Bryan Church, 128 Chaintown Rd. Dawson, Pa. 15428.
