Robert Kramer Obituary

Robert Lawrence Kramer passed away in the evening of December 5 after an extended illness. He was born November 3, 1948 in Pittsburgh to Elizabeth Fey and Melvin Kramer. Bob came from a large family of ten children. His surviving siblings are James Kramer (Brenda) of Florida, Kenneth Kramer (Joanne) of Butler, Norman Kramer (Shirley) of South Carolina, Bernie Kramer (April) of South Carolina, Nanette Drozdowski, Lawrenceville, Elizabeth (Betsy) Powell (Rich), Pittsburgh,  Dan Kramer (Lisa), Pittsburgh, Don Kramer (Sue), Virginia.

He will be greatly missed by his wife, Vierma ‘Bobbi’ Kramer.  Also surviving are son, Sean Robert Kramer, daughters, Jenna L’Rae Boley (Tom), and Hannah C Steiner (Bill), his loving granddaughter, April Niyamuddin (Dr. Tony) and precious great-grandchildren, Owen, Sophie and Miles Niyamuddin.

He was predeceased by his parents, brother, Melvin and brother-in-law Ted Drozdowski.

Bob began his work career as a teen working in a bakery in his home town of Millvale and then in the coin department at Kaufmans Department Store in Pittsburgh. He went on to work as a Federal Officer at the Bettis Nuclear Lab in West Mifflin for many decades. During that time, he created a patent for a human- shaped target practice form for law officers to use. He was a hard worker who worked many hours at work and at home.

Once ‘retired’, he worked at Advanced Auto and enjoyed all the conversations at the many garages he delivered to.

Over the years, Bob disc jockeyed at weddings and parties and loved music--- especially the ‘Oldies’.

Bob served 3 enlistments in the Army and Reserves and was a proud veteran.

He was on many soft ball teams, even coaching a girls’ softball team his daughter, Jenna played on. He enjoyed this very much. Prior to this, he played football, loved all things Harley Davidson, bowling, and golf. As a young man, he loved driving his corvette. Sadly, he was in a severe car wreck in the corvette that nearly ended his life at age 27, but he miraculously survived.

As he got older, he loved projects at his home in Everson and at his church, The New Hope Alliance in Scottdale. He was also a big help whenever his wife needed help volunteering for an animal shelter.

For several years he grew and loved roses and was always looking for a true black rose. Another passion of his was decorating with Christmas lights. He was never done putting those lights up!

When he relaxed he loved to read history books and do crossword puzzles while his three dogs, Charley, Betsy and Spock lay at his feet. But, above all he loved going to Cape Hatteras to fish nearly every year with his family and extended family. It was the highlight of his year.

Bob loved the Lord, started his days out reading ‘Our Daily Bread’ and had K-Love on in his truck all the time. He is with the Angels now.

A Celebration of Life will take place December 17 at Noon at The New Hope Alliance Church, 229 Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale, Pa with a meal following.
