Richard L. Mates,78,passed away peacefully on August 3, 2025. He was born on March 22, 1947, in Connellsville, Richard's life was a testament to the power of kindness and the strength of familial bonds. A devoted father,grandfather and brother. Richard's legacy is carried on by his beloved daughter, Heidi L. Cooper and her husband Thomas, of Scottdale. He was the proud grandfather to Devin, Rylee, Aiden, who is partnered with JJ Villarreal, and Rianna Cooper. Each of them held a special place in his heart, and he cherished every moment spent with them. Richard's guidance and love shaped their lives, and his wisdom will continue to influence them in the years to come. He is also survived by his brother, Dennis Mates and his wife Tina of Normalville. The bond between the brothers was fortified by shared memories and a deep understanding that only siblings can have. As we mourn the loss of Richard L. Mates, we also celebrate a life well-lived, a journey marked by the love he gave and the love he received.
