Phyllis A. Anderson, a beacon of gentle kindness and loving warmth, passed away on February 14, 2025, at the age of 85 in Latrobe Hospital. Born on September 20, 1939, in Scottdale, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Arthur and Madeline Thomas Logan.
Phyllis spent her working years as a devoted Steward at the Central Hotel in Scottdale, dedicating 25 years of service before her well-deserved retirement. Her colleagues remember her as a steadfast presence, always ready with a kind word and a helping hand. Outside of work, Phyllis was a familiar face at the Scottdale Moose #194, where she was a former member.
A woman of simple tastes and enduring habits, Phyllis found contentment in the daily ritual of reading the newspaper and engaging with the challenge of crossword puzzles. Her love for game shows was known to all; they brought her excitement and joy.
Phyllis's is survived by her children: Christine Kimmel of Smithton, Rick Anderson, Jr. of Mt. Pleasant, Darlene Means and her husband Chester of Connellsville, Michele Szwed of Scottdale, and James Anderson and his wife Holli of Columbus, Ohio. Her grandchildren, Melissa Means, Jeremy Szwed, Terry Szwed, Lennon Anderson, and Rodney Anderson, who will carry forward the memories of her love and the lessons she imparted. Her great-grandchildren, Madilyn and Caitlyn Glitsch.
Phyllis also leaves behind her siblings, who shared in the tapestry of her life: Arthur A. Logan and wife Linda of Montana, John Logan of Pittsburgh, Eileen Grant and husband James of New Jersey, Patricia Bauer and husband George of Pittsburgh, and Joseph Logan and wife Mary of Pittsburgh.
Phyllis’ family will greet friends on Wednesday, February 19, 2025 in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683, from 10AM – 12PM at which time her Funeral Service will begin with Pastor Lee Maley, officiating.
Committal Services and interment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Pennsville.
