Philip W. Chiaramonte, 84, known affectionately as Phil to his friends and family, passed away peacefully of natural causes on January 10, 2024, in Greensburg, PA at his residence. Born on May 21, 1939, in Scottdale, PA, Phil's journey through life was one marked by devotion to his community, his faith, and the love he shared with his extensive family and friends. Phil grew up in Scottdale, where he attended St. John the Baptist R.C. Church and its Parochial School, forming the foundations of his strong faith and commitment to service. A proud graduate of Scottdale High School Class of 1957, Phil's early education played a pivotal role in shaping the man he would become. In 1960, he made Greensburg his home and became a cherished member of the Church of St. Paul in Greensburg since 1988, where he was actively involved in the church community. Professionally, Phil dedicated 33 years of service to the Westinghouse Corp. in Monroeville, PA, retiring as a Specialist. Even after his retirement, Phil maintained a close connection with his former colleagues as an active member of the Westinghouse Corp. Retirees Luncheon Group. His work ethic and camaraderie left a lasting impression on all who worked alongside him. Family was the cornerstone of Phil's life. He was a beloved brother to Joseph Chiaramonte and his wife Reta of McGregor, Iowa, and to Michael Chiaramonte and his wife Brenda of Santa Ana, California. Phil held a special place in his heart for his dear nephew, Rob Hafer, and his wife Michelle of Mt. Laurel, New Jersey, as well as for his numerous loving nieces, nephews, and the close friends he made throughout his life in the Greensburg area. Phil was preceded in death by his parents, Anthony and Marina Balsamo Chiaramonte, and his siblings Frank Chiaramonte, Anthony Chiaramonte II, Concetta Hafer, and Genevieve Hornak. The legacy they shared is one of close-knit family ties and shared memories that will continue to live on through the stories and gatherings of the Chiaramonte family. Phil's interests and hobbies were as varied as they were passionate. Whether he was engaging in community events, attending church functions, or simply spending time with those he loved, Phil's warmth and generosity were ever-present. His laughter, wisdom, and kindness were gifts to all who knew him, and his absence will be deeply felt. Family and friends are cordially invited to honor and celebrate Phil's life at the Church of St. Paul, 820 Carbon Road, Greensburg, PA. A public visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 17, 2024, from 10 AM to 11 AM, immediately followed by the Funeral Mass with the Rev. Peter Augustine Pierjok, OSB, serving as Celebrant. Phil will be laid to rest at St. John Parish Cemetery in Scottdale, where he will be reunited with his beloved family members who have gone before him.
