Norma Echard Obituary

Norma Grace Blackburn Echard, passed away peacefully of natural causes on December 28, 2023, at the age of 88. Born on February 17, 1935, in Kingview, the daughter of the late Norman and Anna Grace Hough Blackburn. A proud graduate of the Scottdale Joint High School Class of 1953, Norma was a woman whose presence was felt in the simplest yet most profound ways. She was revered for her exceptional baking skills, with pies that would bring a smile to anyone fortunate enough to taste them. Her love for gardening was evident in the vibrant blooms that adorned her home, a testament to her nurturing spirit. Norma's love for adventure shone through in the travels she embarked on with her beloved husband, Wilbur "Bill" Echard, who preceded her in death on January 26, 2016. Together, they shared a love that was as enduring as it was inspiring. Norma's zest for life and her ability to find joy in every journey were qualities that endeared her to many. She was a woman of many talents, but above all, Norma was a beacon of love and selflessness. Her gentle presence was a source of comfort and strength to her family, whom she adored above all else. Her dedication to her children was unwavering, and her legacy lives on through Dianne Echard Theisen of Carmichaels, Pa.; Eugene Ray Echard and his wife Kimberly of Youngwood, Pa.; Linda Grace Berish and her husband Samuel of McClellandtown, Pa.; Janet Pelesky who passed away August 12, 2019, Alyce Echard of Palm Harbor, Fla.; Bryan Echard and his wife Marsha of Scottdale, Pa.; and Marianne Rose and her husband Shane Rolin of Latrobe, Pa. Norma's love also extended to her son-in-law, Stephen Pelesky of Sewickley, Pa., and she was a cherished grandmother to her 14 grandchildren and adored great-grandmother to her three great-grandchildren. Those who knew Norma will remember her as the epitome of loving kindness. Her gentle ways and selfless nature were hallmarks of her character, leaving an indelible mark on the hearts of those she touched. She was a beacon of warmth and generosity, always putting others before herself and exemplifying what it means to live a life filled with grace. As we bid farewell to Norma Grace Blackburn Echard, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and unconditional love. Her memory will be cherished and honored by all who were privileged to know her. Norma's legacy of love, her passion for life, and her nurturing spirit will continue to flourish in the lives of her family and friends.
