Nancy Slate Obituary

Nancy L. Horvath Slate, a cherished wife, mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2024, at the age of 82. Born on February 11, 1942, in Scottdale, Nancy lived a life marked by dedication to her family, a strong work ethic, and a love for simple pleasures.

Nancy was a proud graduate of Scottdale High School, class of 1960, a foundation that set the course for her diligent work life. Following her graduation, she began her career at Duraloy Technologies, where she worked in the office for several years. Her professional journey continued as she became a respected Dispatcher, a role she performed with passion and commitment for over two decades. Nancy's work with the Scottdale Borough and Mutual Aid not only showcased her professionalism but also her dedication to serving her community.

Family was the cornerstone of Nancy's life. She is survived by her loving children: Debra Moffa and her husband Joseph of Bovard; Patsy A. Slate, II and his wife Kristy of Scottdale; Robert W. Slate of Scottdale; and David M. Slate and his wife Crystal of Boswell. Nancy's legacy is also carried on by her cherished grandchildren: Zachary Slate, Dakota Wilson and his wife Nikki, Mikayla Shemansky, Austen Rhome and Natile, Rebecca Slate, Robert W. Slate, II, Camryn Slate, and Stefanie Slate.Her Sisters Mary Ann Poorbough and her husband Gilbert; Debra Showman and her Husband Forest. And Her Sister in law, Sarah Seaton. In addition to her parents, Nancy was preceded in death by: Her loving and devoted Husband of 58 years, Patsy A. Slate, whom she married, January 31, 1964, Her Grandson, Alexander M. Slate (Aug. 16, 2008) and Her Brother in infancy, David Horvath.

She enjoyed playing bingo and sharing laughs with friends. Her most treasured times were spent at the cabin she adored, alongside her late husband Patsy. There, she found solace in the beauty of nature and the company of her family, creating memories that would last a lifetime.

Nancy's presence was a comforting constant in the lives of those who knew her. Her quick wit, generous spirit, and unwavering support were the hallmarks of her character.

As we bid farewell to Nancy, we do so with hearts full of gratitude for the time we were privileged to share with her. Her memory will continue to live on through the stories told, the lessons she imparted, and the love she spread so freely. Nancy's impact on her family and her community is immeasurable, and she will be remembered fondly by all who had the pleasure of knowing her.

Nancy L. Horvath Slate's life was a beautiful journey that touched many. As we celebrate her life, we find comfort in knowing that her story does not end here. It continues in the laughter of her grandchildren, the strength of her children, and the countless memories cherished by all who were blessed to know her. Nancy's journey was one of love, laughter, and an unwavering commitment to those she held dear. May she rest in peace, knowing she was truly loved and will be eternally missed.
