Mary Ann Jarko Kucera, 84, passed away peacefully Saturday afternoon, October 5, 2024, at Independence Health Systems Westmoreland Hospital. Born on December 2, 1939, in the close-knit community of Kingview, Fayette Co. Mary was the daughter of the late John J. and Frances V. Surlas Jarko.
Mary Ann, a proud graduate of East Huntingdon High School, dedicated much of her professional life to the local community. She was a familiar and friendly face at Fort Pitt Shoes, where her impeccable service left a lasting impression on customers. Later, she brought her nurturing spirit to the Southmoreland School District Cafeteria, where she served not just meals, but also smiles and words of encouragement to the students she came to know and love.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Mary Ann was a devoted wife who cherished traveling with her late husband, James J. Kucera. Her love for shopping was more than a pastime; it was a way for her to find the perfect gifts that would bring joy to others.
Mary Ann's role as a mother and grandmother was where she shone brightest. Her daughter, Christine M. Belzer, and son-in-law Todd of Mt. Pleasant, knew they could always turn to her for support, advice, or simply a listening ear. She was the epitome of a loving mother, always putting the needs of her family above her own.
Her grandchildren, Ashley Belzer and Chad of Johnstown, and Alexei Belzer of Mt. Pleasant, will remember their grandmother for her gentle embraces, her laughter, and the unconditional love she poured into their lives
Survived by her sister, Patricia Hibbs of Latrobe, Mary Ann's spirit will continue to resonate with those who were fortunate enough to know her.
