He departed this world at Independence Health Systems Westmoreland Hospital, Greensburg, Pennsylvania, leaving behind a legacy of unwavering commitment to his family, his faith, and his country. Marvin's journey began alongside his loving parents in the small town of jollytown and then moved to Delmont at the young age of six thru his school years where he learned the values of hard work and community spirit and still maintained close friendships throughout his life. These early lessons guided him throughout his life and were reflected in everything he did. On October 5, 1968, he married the love of his life, Anna Catherine Huffman Staggers. A dedicated family man, Marvin's love for his family was evident in the close relationships he maintained with his daughters, Marcy Robbins and Dale Walker, Jr. of Greensburg, and Lori Bloomquist and her husband Bill of Plum. His role as a grandfather to Logan Robbins and his wife Sami of Frederick, Colorado, and Braden Bloomquist of Plum, as well as a great-grandfather to Adabelle Robbins of Frederick, Colorado. Marvin is survived by his sister, Nancy Hunter and Ed Mikesell of Delmont, his niece, Susan Shuster and husband Jim of Greensburg, and his nephew, David Hunter and wife Kim, along with their children, Marissa and Mason, all of Greensburg. His family meant the world to him, and he cherished every moment spent with them. A man of deep faith, Marvin was a pillar of the Center Bethel Church of God for over 50 years. He served as the President and Treasurer of the Church Council and held numerous other positions within the church. A graduate of Franklin Regional High School Class of 1965, he furthered his education at Robert Morris College, where he earned a Bachelor's in Business Administration and Accounting. Marvin honorably served his country in the Army, where he was drafted in 1968 and served until 1970 in the Vietnam War, being discharged with the rank of Sergeant E-5. His career spanned over four decades, with eight years at International Paper, Madison, and 38 years at the former Anchor Hocking Cap Plant as a Plant Accountant. Beyond his family and career, Marvin was deeply involved in his community. A resident of Alverton for 43 years, commonly referred as the “Mayor of Alverton” and Greensburg for the last 10 years, he served on the Board of Directors of Mutual Aid, was an East Huntingdon Twp Auditor for 30 years, and was the President of the Alverton Civic Association since 1976. His commitment to public service extended to the East Huntingdon Twp Fire Dept since 1978 and he could be found as the emcee for every gun bash as well as a member of The Mennonite Cemetery Association Board, and his role as a former EMT and CPR Instructor. Marvin was a loving, intelligent, and spirited individual who firmly believed that "God has a plan for everyone."
