Marlene Howells Obituary

Marlene F. Howells, 85, beloved sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, and friend was born into eternal life on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, in the comfort of her home, with her loving family by her side. Marlene was born on September 17, 1935 in East Huntingdon Township, the youngest child to the late George Edward and Olive Marie (Forsythe) Howells. She was a lifelong resident of Scottdale and remained a lifelong, active, and faithful member of the First Baptist Church in Scottdale. Marlene was a graduate of Scottdale High School Class of 1954. She was employed as a Binder for the Laurel Group Press in Scottdale, dedicating 23 years of service. Marlene was a lady of tremendous strength and always kept herself busy. She was an immaculate housekeeper, decorator, and baker. She enjoyed her snowmen and butterfly collectables, relaxing on her porches, reading the daily newspaper, watching TV comedies, and keeping in touch with family and friends. Marlene was a passionate gardener and loved flowers, particularly Pansies and Morning Glories. She always savored a hot cup of tea and kept her chocolate candy dish well stocked. Marlene was treasured by her family and will be dearly missed. Her joyful, comforting, and caring personality was always uplifting. Spending time with her was always fun by having a relaxing conversation, playing games, or making crafts together. In addition to her Father and Mother, Marlene was predeceased by her brother Mr. Jack R. Howells on June 24, 1998 and brother and sister-in-law Mr. and Mrs. James R. and Geraldine (Johnson) Howells on December 12, 1999 and May 24, 2020, respectfully. Left behind to cherish and honor Marlene’s legacy are her dear sister-in-law Mrs. Gayle (Sidehamer) Howells, nephew Timothy R. and wife Cindy (DeMonte) Howells, great-nephew Bradley D. Howells, great-niece Brianna C. Howells, all of Scottdale, and several cousins. Funeral arrangements are under the professional supervision of the Frank Kapr Funeral Home Inc. in Scottdale. Due to COVID-19, outdoor visitation in the prayer garden for family and friends will be held from 10:30 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 11th at the Wesley Chapel United Methodist Church (485 Wesley Chapel Road, Scottdale, PA). Funeral service and private interment will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the Wesley Chapel cemetery with the Reverend William Hough officiating. Please wear a face mask and practice social distancing.
