Marion Scardina, Jr. Obituary

Marion Scardina Jr. (Babe), 81, of Scottdale, Pennsylvania, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2025. Marion was born on January 24, 1944, to Marion Sr. and Antoniette (Cuoco) Scardina. Marion is survived by his wife Linda after 57 amazing years of marriage. He is the proud father of Lori (Pellock), Krista (Pedley), and Tony, and is lovingly reunited with his son Marion III and daughter Michelle. Marion is also survived by his children’s respective spouses John, Kerry, and Melinda; four grandchildren Michael, Dominic, Julia, and Nikolas; and brother and sister James and Rosemary. There was nothing more important to Marion than bringing together his family and friends for delicious food and celebration. At the age of 16, Marion began working at the used car dealership established by his father in Connellsville, PA. Marion Motors was a staple of the local community for more than 60 years. Marion provided affordable cars and services to the community with honesty, integrity, and a tireless work ethic. These values were the anchor of life for Marion at home and at work. Marion could fix anything and had an endless passion for hot rods, car shows, and autocross racing. Whether enjoying corvettes, Shelby cobras, Indianapolis pace cars, or any other fast car, Marion was always alongside his childhood buddies Squirrel, Wayne, Ed and George. Marion was proud to be part of the local community and always tried to serve – he was a long-time member of The Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, the Scottdale Elks and billiards club, President of church council at St. John the Baptist and a member of St. Vincent DePaul, and while a member of the Scottdale Chamber of Commerce, he started the annual Scottdale car show. Marion’s focus was always his family, friends, neighbors, and community. His immediate family wants to thank those who closely loved and cared for him over the years including his brother- and sister-in law John and Kathy Faris and his neighbors Jess, Snjezana, Colin, and Liam Sullivan. A Gathering of friends will be held on Sunday, September 7, 2025 from 5PM -7PM in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683. A Private Family Liturgy will be held on Monday, September 8, 2025 with Fr. Julius Capongpongan. Private Inurnment to follow in St. Rita’s Cemetery, Connellsville. The family would like to give special Thanks to the nursing staff and the ICU floor for all the care, compassion and love that was shown to Babe and his family during his stay.
