Chief Petty Officer, Keith A. Medley (ret), 56, of Scottdale, passed away peacefully Saturday, December 7, 2024, at Hempfield Manor in Greensburg. Born on January 17, 1968, in Middletown, New York, the son of Charles E. Medley of Walden, NY and Claudia R. Burnell Brown of Arnold City, Pa. Keith's journey through life was marked by dedication, service, and an unwavering commitment to his family, Country and community. He leaves behind his beloved wife, Chelsea L. Benedict Medley of Scottdale, with whom he shared the joys and challenges of life. Together, they raised a beautiful family, including their children, Taylor R. Medley and Hector Casey, and CJ Medley and Matthew Domasky, all of Scottdale. Keith's role as a father was one of his greatest sources of pride, and his guidance and love will continue to shape their lives. He grew up alongside his loving siblings, Gloria J. Wood and her husband Donald (Woody) of Connellsville, Wayne E. Medley and his wife Angie of Morrisonville, NY, and Robert Conklin and his wife Thomasina of Mt. Pleasant. The bonds he shared with his family were a source of strength and joy throughout his life. Keith's legacy is also carried on by his nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews, who will remember him for his kindness, his stories, and the lessons he imparted. He was a loving husband, a supportive father, and a cherished uncle. His absence will be deeply felt, but the memories of his loving, thoughtful, and gentle nature will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him. After graduating from New York Valley Central High School in 1987, Keith answered the call to serve his country by enlisting in the U.S. Navy on July 1 of the same year. Keith was the recipient of the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal (2); Navy and Corps achievement Medals (2); Navy Unit Commendation; Meritorious Unit Commendation (2); Navy “E” Ribbon (2); Southwest Asia Service Medal; Global War on Terrorism Expeditionary Medal; Kuwait Liberation (Saudi/Kuwait Medal. Upon retiring from the Navy, Keith's thirst for knowledge and his desire to give back led him to pursue further education. He successfully obtained his Master’s Degree in counseling. Keith's passion for helping others found its true calling when he opened Medley Counseling in Greensburg. As a Mental Health Therapist, he offered guidance, support, and a compassionate ear to those in need. His practice was not just a profession but a manifestation of his innate desire to bring comfort and understanding to the lives of others. In the town of Scottdale, Keith was a well-known figure, not just for his professional work but also for his active involvement in the community. He was a proud member of the VFW, where he served in various capacities, including the position of Former Commander. His commitment to service continued with the American Legion of Scottdale and the Scottdale Fire Department, where he dedicated many years as both a member and a friend to all. Keith's life was a tapestry of love, service, and gentle guidance. He was a beacon of thoughtfulness and warmth, always ready to lend a helping hand or a listening ear.
