Joseph Kiliany Obituary

Joseph J. Kiliany, 93, known affectionately as "Posy" by his friends and loved ones, passed away peacefully on October 9, 2025, at Redstone Highlands. Born on January 6, 1932, in Scottdale, the son of the late Joseph J. and Helen O’Hatnick Kiliany. He was a member of the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Scottdale. A proud veteran, Posy served his country during the Korean War before embarking on a distinguished career as a state bank examiner from which he retired 30 years ago. Posy's passion for sports was evident throughout his life. In his younger days, he was a formidable athlete, excelling in baseball and basketball, much to the admiration of his brothers who attested to his natural talent in every sport he played. His competitive spirit continued into adulthood as he actively participated in bowling and pool leagues, always enjoying the thrill of the game and the friendship of his teammates. Upon retirement, Posy found solace and joy on the golf course, a place where he could indulge in his love for the game and cherish the company of friends. His leisure time was also spent traveling with his beloved wife, Theresa, to Atlantic City, where they shared memorable experiences. An avid fan of the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, Posy's enthusiasm for his favorite teams was infectious, and he never missed an opportunity to cheer them on. Posy's commitment to his community was exemplified by his active membership in the Scottdale Elks Lodge #777, where he forged lasting friendships and contributed to the Lodge's mission and activities. Joe is survived by his loving children, Gary J. Kiliany and wife Roxanne of Pittsburgh, Brenda J. Rose and husband Jeff of Rockville, MD, and Kenneth J. Kiliany of Pittsburgh. His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren, Paige Kiliany Wright and husband Gage of Jersey City, N.J., and Ethan Kiliany of Philadelphia, Pa., as well as his two great-grandsons, Graham and Gavin Wright of Jersey City, N.J. Posy was a beloved brother to Arthur K. Kiliany and his wife Joann of Mt. Pleasant, and David K. Kiliany and his wife Nanci of Anaheim, California. In addition to his Parents, Posy was preceded in death by: His Wife, Theresa A. Stepanic Kiliany (Dec. 28, 2021) Siblings: Helen Kiliany, James, Charles and Thomas Kiliany.
