John Brilhart Obituary

John Henry Brilhart, (Waxy) (Birdie), 81 longtime resident of Scottdale, passed away early Thursday morning, April 13,2023 at Excela Health Frick Hospital while being comforted by his loving family.

He was born April 10, 1942 in Scottdale, the son of the late Aaron and Claire (Brodigan) Brilhart. He was a Graduate of Scottdale High School Class of 1961. He was then employed at U.S. Steel Irvin Works of Dravosburg with 34 years of service. Although retired, John never stopped moving and was often doing home repairs and home improvements for himself and others.

He loved playing golf!  He was a past member of Linden Hall and Pleasant Valley Golf Club. He played golf often at numerous local golf courses as well as many golf trips further South. He also enjoyed woodworking, watching sports, playing cards, and doing home improvements. If you knew John, then you know his love of playing harmless pranks on his favorite day of the year- April Fool’s Day. 

In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with his children and grandchildren.

John is gone from our lives, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him. He is survived by:

Stevie Brilhart of Mt. Pleasant, Tarin Bush of Berwick, Erin Centofanto and husband Todd of Dawson, and Alyssa Siegel and husband Dennis of Mt. Pleasant.

His Grandchildren: Elizabeth, Colette, Carissa, Evan, and Lillian. Great granddaughter Alauna.

His devoted fiancé of 9 years, Joann Bushyager

His Sister-in-law Bonnie Brilhart of Scottdale and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, John was preceded in death by:

Companion of 12 years: Mary Lou Fox

Brothers: Donald Brilhart, Richard Brilhart, and James Brilhart 

Sister: Maureen Strevels

In honoring John’s wishes, there will be no visitation or services for John. His cremation Arrangements have been entrusted to the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc.

His family will have a Celebration of Life Memorial Luncheon at a later date.
