Jeffrey "Jeff" Sofranko, a cherished husband, father, brother, and friend, passed away peacefully from natural causes on January 29, 2025, at Independence Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant. Born on August 18, 1960, in Mt. Pleasant, the son of the late John T. and Anna Elizabeth Bishop Sofranko. Jeff's life was one marked by devotion, humor, and selflessness.
He was a graduate of Mt. Pleasant High School, Class of 1978. His career spanned 36 years as a dedicated Transportation Equipment Operator with Penn Dot, where his work ethic and can-do attitude were greatly valued by all who worked alongside him.
On September 3, 1983, Jeff married the love of his life, Donna M. Severi Sofranko, and together they built a life filled with love, laughter, and shared adventures. Their union was blessed with two sons, Brandon J. Sofranko and Nathaniel J. Sofranko, both of Mt. Pleasant, who Jeff raised with the same integrity and kindness that he carried in his own heart.
Jeff's family circle included his beloved dogs, Jax, his loyal companion, and Ace, who had passed before him. He was a brother to Beverly McCarrell of Oakmont, John Sofranko, Jr. and his wife Gloria of Morgantown, W.V., and Diane Kauffman and her husband Chuck of Norvelt. Jeff also leaves behind his stepmother, Kay Free Sofranko of New Stanton, three stepbrothers and their spouses, and a loving collection of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, and a great-great-niece and nephew, all of whom he adored.
Jeff was a man of many talents, a jack of all trades who could fix, build, or solve just about anything he set his mind to. His helping hands were often extended to friends and family, and for the past two summers, he enjoyed lending those hands at Orsini's Greenhouse in Perryopolis as seasonal help.
An avid Pittsburgh Penguins fan, Jeff's enthusiasm for the game was only matched by his love for traveling and vacationing with his wife, Donna. They shared countless memories exploring new places and making each trip an adventure to remember. He also treasured the moments spent traveling to watch his nephew, Todd who played college football at Westminster, and he never missed an opportunity to indulge in a scoop of JKD, his code for ice cream, which always brought a smile to his face.
Jeff's big personality was only outshone by his even bigger heart. His love for his family, his radiant sense of humor, and his selfless nature made him a role model to all who were fortunate enough to know him. He had a knack for lighting up any room he entered and leaving a lasting impression on the hearts of those he met.
