Janet Manzella Obituary

Janet Nowicki Manzella, 81 passed away suddenly on March 23, 2026. She was born in Mt. Pleasant, the daughter of the late Marion and Helen Nowicki. She grew up in Everson alongside her siblings, Marion, Rita and Carol. She attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School and graduated from Immaculate Conception High School. As a teenager, she worked at her father’s store, Marion’s Market, where her warmth and love of people were already evident. Janet is survived by her Sons, Dave and Brynn (Emmet, Guthrie and Bergen), Chuck (Maggie) and Kerry, Her Sister, Rita Nowicki, as well as her Sister-in-law, Cathy (Dr. Kylie Nowicki). While attending Mercyhurst College, she met her husband, Charles Manzella. They married on June 25, 1966, and built their life in Rochester, New York. Janet was devoted mother and a dedicated elementary school teacher at St. Cecilia’s Catholic School and in the Webster Central School District. She was also an active member of St. Rita’s Parish, serving as Lector and Choir Member. Later, Janet and Charles moved to Sanibel Island, Florida, where she continued teaching at Sanibel School. After retiring and a difficult divorce, Janet relocated to Loveland, Colorado, where she became an integral part of her son Dave and daughter-in-law Brynn’s family; sharing meals, baking and helping raise her grandchildren. She quickly built community, volunteering at Namaqua Elementary and Alternatives to Violence, and singing in the community choir. Janet faced life’s challenges with resilience, including health struggles and recovery from alcoholism. Through Alcoholics Anonymous, she found strength, purpose and deep connection, supporting others with generosity and compassion. Janet made a lasting impression through her warmth, humor and unwavering care for others. She will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
