Hugh Canose Obituary

Hugh M. Canose, 91 of Scottdale, passed away peacefully, Thursday afternoon, March 9, 2023 in the comfort of his home, while being comforted by his loving wife Jayne.

Hugh was born May 23, 1931 in Owensdale, Pa, the son of the late Alvie C. and Helen Myers Canose who died in 1978 and 1976 respectively.

He was attended the Pilgrim Presbyterian Church, Scottdale.

Hugh attended Scottdale High School and was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army serving from 1952-1954 while attaining the rank of SGT.

He was employed in 1948 by Manufactures Light & Heat Company, which then became Columbia Gas Company with 39 1/2 years of service as a Town Service Man.

Hugh served as President of Local #12124 District Mine Workers from 1960 thru 1972. He was former member of the Scottdale Lions Club, where he enjoyed helping with the Chicken Barbeques.

Hugh is gone from our lives, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him,

His Loving and Devoted Wife of 69 years, Jayne Taylor Canose, whom he married October 22, 1954;

 His Son:

 Brian J. Canose and wife Peggy of Upper St. Clair

His Daughter-In-Law: Kathy Canose of Mt. Pleasant

His Grandchildren:

Meghan Canose of Pittsburgh

Lauren Canose of Denver CO

David Canose and Patrick of Buffalo, N.Y.

In addition to his Parents, Hugh was preceded in death by:

His Son: Dr. Jeffrey Canose (Jan. 17, 2020)

A Sister: Molla Jane Ruth (2005)

A Brother: Jacob Canose (1993)

Family and Friends are cordially invited to Hugh’s visitation, Monday, March 13, 2023, in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683 from 3PM -6:45PM at which time full Military Honors will be accorded by the Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post #446 Honor Guard, followed by his Funeral Service at 7 PM with Pastor Dale White, Officiating.

Private Interment will take place in the Scottdale Cemetery.

The family would like to give Special Thanks to Sandra Williams that we loved as the daughter, we were not blessed to have, for all her love and support.

Also Thank You to Dr. Mark Williams for the excellent care and professionalism he provided to Hugh thru his journey.
