Helen Hopey Johnson, 81 of Scottdale, passed away peacefully on June 3, 2018 At Excela Westmoreland Hospital while being comforted by her loving family.

She was born September 27, 1936 in McKeesport the daughter of the late George and Anna Franko Hopey.

Helen was a devout Catholic and a faithful and active member of St. John Byzantine Catholic Church of Scottdale.

Helen was a graduate of McKeesport High School Class of 1954.

She was a member and past President of the Church Altar Society and the Jewel Bowling League of Mt. Pleasant. She was also a member of the Connellsville, Bull Skin, & Everson Senior Citizens Organizations.

Helen loved watching her grandson play soccer & track.

In addition to being an avid card player, Helen enjoyed bowling, bocce, & going to the casino.

Helen is gone from our lives, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her,

Her High School Sweetheart and loving and devoted Husband of 62 years, Donald R. Johnson, whom she married October 1, 1955.

Helen is also survived by various Nieces & Nephews and close friends, including Jean Domurot of Scottdale and David & Beth Hough of Maryland

In addition to her parents, Helen was preceded in death by:

Two Brothers: John and George Hopey

Three Sisters: Mary Pishko, Julia Midlo, Irene Hollis and Anne Fedorka

Helen’s family will greet friends in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc., 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale Wednesday June 6, 2018 from 2pm-4pm, 6pm-8pm.

A Parastas Service will be held Wednesday at 6pm in the Funeral Home followed by the Divine Liturgy to be held at 10am on Thursday June 7, 2018, in St. John Byzantine Catholic Church, Scottdale with Rev. Oleh Seremchuk, as Celebrant.

Committal Services and Interment will follow in the Parish Cemetery, Scottdale, East Huntingdon Twp.
