Gerald Firestone Obituary

Gerald N. “Jerry” Firestone, 86 of Scottdale, passed away unexpectedly, Monday afternoon, May 17, 2021 at his residence.

He was born September 22, 1934 in Mill Run, Pa. the son of the late Orville and Dessie Burkholder Firestone.

Jerry was a longtime and faithful member of Christ United Methodist Church, Scottdale. He was a part of the church choir as well for a number of years.

Jerry graduated from Connellsville High School Class of 1952. He then furthered his education, where he received both his Masters and Bachelor’s Degrees from California University. He was then employed as a  teacher at various grade levels within the Southmoreland School District and Westmoreland Intermediate Unit with over 46 years of service as an Educator.

He also coached Tennis for boys and girls for 20 years and ran the clock for Southmoreland Basketball games.

Jerry was also a member of the Scottdale Parks and Recreation Committee for a number of years.

He was an Honorable Discharged Veteran of the U. S. Army Reserves.

Jerry will be remembered as a Gentle man and a Gentleman.

Jerry is gone from our lives but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him,

His loving and devoted wife of 46 years, E. Pauline Wilburn Firestone, whom he married August 19, 1956,

His loving and devoted daughter and Son-In-Law:

Pamela Firestone Trautwein and husband Chuck of Grantsville, MD.

His two Grandsons:

Zachary C. Trautwein and wife Tabitha of Friendsville, MD.

Jeffrey N. Trautwein of Grantsville, MD.

His Great Granddaughter:

Quinn Trautwein

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by:

His Siblings, Emma Lou Pletcher, Charles and Dwight “DL” Firestone.

Family and Friends are cordially invited to the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale, Wednesday from 4PM – 8PM and Thursday from 9 AM to 10 AM the hour of his Funeral Service in the Funeral Home, with his Pastor, Rev Kathleen Barnhart, Officiating.

Committal Services and Interment will follow in Scottdale Cemetery.

In lieu of customary remembrance’s, the family suggests Memorials be made to the Scottdale Parks and Recreation Committee 10 Mount Pleasant Road Scottdale, Pa. 15683 or to Christ United Methodist Church 201 Market Street Scottdale, Pa. 15683 in his memory.
