Genevieve E. Marchewka Shumar, 92 of Quarry St., Mt. Pleasant passed away Tuesday evening, June 29, 2021 at Eichers Personal Care Home, Normalville while being comforted by her loving family.
She was born February 26, 1929 in Owensdale, the daughter of the late Leo W. and Agnes G. Sefcheck Marchewka.
Genevieve was a longtime and faithful member of St. Pius X R.C. Church of Mt. Pleasant since 1950. She also was a member of St. Joseph R.C. Church of Everson and was member of the Rosary Society.
Genevieve was a great cook taking much pride in her Polish dishes. She was an avid bowler and enjoyed bowling with her league as well as visiting various casinos.
She was a former Clerk for Fox Grocery with ten years of service.
Genevieve is gone from our lives, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her,

Her Husband, Jack T. Shumar (Oct. 16, 2014)
Her Brothers: Thomas Marchewka (1996) and Walter L. Marchewka (2010)
Genevieve’s family will greet friends in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683 on Friday from 2PM – 8PM.
Parting Prayers will be held Saturday at 9:30AM in the Funeral Home, with her Funeral Mass to be celebrated at 10AM the Partner Parish of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Everson with Fr. Rick Kosisko as Celebrant.
Committal Services and Interment will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery, Everson.
A Parish Vigil Service will be held Friday at 7:45PM in the Funeral Home.
