Gail Brayo Obituary

It is with a profound sense of loss and a deep appreciation for a life beautifully lived that we announce the passing of Gail R. Bentz Brayo. Gail, a cherished soul known for her loving and faith-filled spirit, left us on January 3, 2024, at the age of 90. She departed this world in Ellwood City, enveloped by the love of her family and the compassionate care of Northview Estates and Gentiva Hospice. Born on April 20, 1933, in Alverton, Pennsylvania, Gail was the beacon of her community, illuminating the lives of those who knew her with her selfless nature and unwavering kindness. Her journey through life was marked by devotion to her family, her friends, and the countless individuals she served through her work as a beautician. For 42 years, Gail was the proud owner and operator of Gail's Beauty Shop in Alverton. Her salon was more than a place of business; it was a haven of friendship and community, where Gail’s warm presence and attentive ear turned clients into lifelong friends. Her work was an extension of her personality, providing not only beauty services but also comfort and joy to those she served. Gail's life was a tapestry woven with the love of her family. She was a loving mother to her Children, Marcie Agostinelli and husband Robert of Ellwood City, Barry Brayo and wife Jan of Bumpass, VA, and Sue Ann Snyder and husband Gary of Alverton, Pa. Her role as a grandmother was one she cherished deeply, leaving a legacy of love and cherished memories with her grandchildren, Andrew Snyder, Kevin Snyder, and Crystal Lightfoot and husband Don of Catoosa Oklahoma. Her Brother, Gene Bentz of West Newton. Gail also held a special place in her heart for her niece, Debbie Brannaka of Hunker, who she loved dearly. Preceding her in death were her Parents, Frank R. And Lucille (Lucy) Colbert Bentz. Her beloved husband of 53 years, Harold E. "Hud" Brayo, who passed away on April 30, 2004. She was also greeted in the hereafter by her parents and siblings: brothers C. William, Frank R., Terry L., Kenneth R., John R., James E, and Gerald C. Bentz, and her sister Bessie Katherine Dryer. We bid farewell to Gail with hearts full of gratitude for the time we were granted with her, for the lessons she imparted, and for the love she shared so freely. Her passing is not an end, but a transition to a place of peace and everlasting beauty, much like she created every day in her salon and in the hearts of those she encountered. Gail's life will be celebrated and her memory honored as we carry forward the essence of her being—her loving, faith-filled, and selfless nature—in our daily lives. Though she may have left our physical world, her spirit remains an indelible part of us, guiding us with the same grace and warmth she provided throughout her remarkable life. May her memory be a blessing to all who were fortunate enough to know her. A Gathering of Family and Friends, will be held on Saturday, January 20, 2024, at 10AM, with her Memorial Service to begin at 11AM, followed by a luncheon at Grace Community Church of Alverton (formerly Alverton United Methodist Church), with Pastor Thomas Shirer, Officiating.
