Francis S. Fissella, Jr., age 58, of Connellsville, Pa, passed away peacefully from natural causes on December 25, 2023, at Latrobe Independence Health System. Born on July 10, 1965, Francis was a man whose presence was marked by an infectious friendliness, an unwavering sense of selflessness, and a generosity that knew no bounds. His life was a testament to the impact one individual can have on a community, and his memory will be cherished by many. A proud Graduate of Southmoreland High School, Class of 1984, Francis dedicated much of his life to service within his community. His commitment to others was evident through his over 35 years of service with the Everson Volunteer Fire Department, where he held the role of Safety Officer. His leadership and dedication to safety were not confined to one role, as Francis also served as a past President of the Fayette County Firemen's Association and was an active member of the PA State Firemen's Association. Francis's community engagement extended beyond his service in fire safety. He was a respected member of the Scottdale Moose Lodge #194, the Scottdale Firemen's Social Club, the Connellsville Knights of Columbus, and the Connellsville Twp. VFD. Each organization benefitted from his commitment and passion for helping others. He is survived by his loving siblings, Virginia Sherbondy and her husband George of Everson, Pa, and James Fissella and his wife Barb of Normalville, Pa. Francis was a cherished uncle to his nieces and nephews, Kelly Levendosky, Nikki Lewandowski, Katie Sciulli, Dana Fissella, Bobbie Jo Farrell, Victor Fissella, Jr., and Bill Stillman, and a doting great-uncle to Tyler Fissella. His Daughter-In-Law, Sarah E. Bendel Fissella of Everson. His warmth and guidance will be deeply missed by each of them. Francis's life was marked by both joy and sorrow. He was preceded in death by his beloved son, Ryan D. Fissella (Sept. 16, 2023). He was also preceded by his brothers, Robert and Victor Fissella, and his Parents; Francis S. and Estella D. Davis Fissella who instilled in him the values of family and community that he carried throughout his life. Those who knew Francis understood that to be in his company was to experience true kinship. He had an ability to make everyone feel like family, and his generosity extended not just to those he knew but also to those in need within his community. His absence will be felt not just in the silence of the firehouse or the empty seat at the lodge but in the hearts of all who were fortunate enough to know him. As we say farewell to Francis S. Fissella, Jr., we celebrate a life lived with purpose and love. We honor a man who gave tirelessly to others and who left an indelible mark on his community. His legacy will live on in the many lives he touched and in the stories that will be told by friends and family for years to come. Francis’s family will greet friends Saturday, December 30, 2023 from 2 – 4PM & 6 -7:30PM at which time a Funeral Liturgy will be held in the Funeral Home with Rev. Elmer Alforque.
