Dorothy F. Schwalke, a beacon of love and faith, passed away peacefully on December 19, 2025, at the age of 90, at Harmon House, Mt. Pleasant. Born on August 18, 1935, in Everson, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late George A. and Mary Walczak Schwalke. Dorothy's gentle spirit and kind-hearted nature touched the lives of all who knew her. A proud graduate of Scottdale High School's class of 1953, Dorothy went on to dedicate 38 years of service as a Tester for Westinghouse-Power X of Youngwood. Her commitment to her work was only surpassed by her devotion to her family and her faith. Dorothy's life was a tapestry of simple pleasures; she found joy in the quiet moments spent working on crossword puzzles, the excitement of a good book, the camaraderie of playing cards, and of traveling to the Casino with her close circle of friends. These activities brought her great happiness, but it was her role as a sister and aunt that truly defined her. She is survived by her loving sister, Regina "Jeanie" Schwalke of Mt. Pleasant; her sister-in-law, Anna Schwalke of Norvelt; her beloved nieces, nephews and their spouses Deborah Betzler of Norvelt, Marianne Stennett of South Carolina, Denise Fines of Florida, and Jenifer Kaputa of Mt. Pleasant, her godchild, Julie Brown of North Carolina; her nephews, David Niezgoda of Florida and her godchild, Mark Niezgoda of Arizona. Dorothy also leaves behind a host of great-nieces and nephews, who will cherish her memory and continue to feel her love. In addition to her Parents, Dorothy was preceded in death by: Siblings: Theresa Niezgoda (May 17, 2006), Rita Schwalke in Infancy, Madeline “Madge” Jaworski (June 30, 2016), George A. “Bud” Schwalke, Jr. (June 30, 2013), Thomas Schwalke (Nov. 28, 2016), Cecelia Walczak (Feb.19,1984), Her Aunt, who raised them following their mothers death, Her Brother-in-law Joseph Jaworski (Feb. 27, 2022), Her Nephew John Jaworski (Mar. 14, 2025). Dorothy's life was a testament to the virtues of love and faith. Her presence was a comforting breeze in the lives of her family, providing a foundation of gentleness and unwavering support. She was the heart of family gatherings, and her absence will be felt deeply. Dorothy’s family will greet friends on Tuesday, December 23, 2025 from 10AM – 11AM with her Funeral Mass to follow in the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Scottdale.
