Donna L. (Stairs) Thomas

Donna L. Thomas passed away peacefully at Mon General Hospital in Morgantown, WV on Friday, March 7, 2025, at the age of 91. Born to the late John and Mary (Trimpey) Stairs on September 20, 1933, Donna grew up at her family's farm in Confluence, PA. She graduated from Confluence High School in 1951 and from Uniontown Nursing School in 1953. She went on to marry the love of her life, the late Donald J. Thomas, and then worked as a Registered Nurse at Connellsville Hospital. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and son, Bradley W. Thomas of Morgantown, WV., her sister, Marjorie (Robert) Reed of Shippensburg, PA., and her dear friend, Rod Lohr of Connellsville, PA. She is survived by her daughter-in-law Germaine Thomas of Morgantown, WV and three grandchildren, Zachary Thomas of Bridgeport, WV and Anastasia Thomas and Matthew Thomas of Morgantown, WV. She is also survived by her siblings Jane (Gerald) Smith of Apex, NC., John Rex (Susan) Stairs of Smyrna, TN., Harold (Belinda) Stairs of Keystone Heights, FL., and Tim (Edna) Stairs of Somerset, PA., as well as several nieces and nephews. Donna was an antique connoisseur. She and her husband Don frequented antique shops and flea markets and hosted countless yard sales. Yet more than buyers and sellers, they were generous givers. Stemming from their Christian faith, If it was in their means and ability to help someone, they did, and always without reservation. Donna opened her welcoming, charitable heart to everyone she met. She delighted in celebrating holidays with her family, friends, and pets, all the while tending the neighborhood animals and any stray that came to her door. No furry or feathered friend went hungry when they visited her. In 2021, she moved to The Village Suites at Heritage Point in Morgantown, WV to be near her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. She touched many hearts over the decades, and her memory will ever shine through the goodness she left behind. Donna's family extends heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Mon General Hospital for their care and compassion during her final days, as well as special appreciation for the staff and her friends at the Suites. Their warmth and compassion meant the world to her, and to us. Family and friends will be received at Frank Kapr Funeral Home, 417 Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale, PA., on Thursday, March 13 from 4 to 7PM Her Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 14, 2025 at 11AM in the Funeral Home, with Pastor Lee Maley, officiating. Donna will then be laid to rest at Green Ridge Memorial Park, 2901 Memorial Boulevard, Connellsville PA.
