Donald McClintock Obituary

Donald R. McClintock, 90, of Ruffs Dale, PA, died on Sunday, June 16, 2024, surrounded by family. He was born on July 23, 1933 to the late Darrell and Eltrude (Stickel) McClintock. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Bernadette (Marhefka), and their infant daughter. He is survived by his loving children Mary, Cindy, and Rob (Christi) McClintock, and many nieces and nephews. Don was a graduate of Scottdale High School Class of 1952, where he met the love of his life, Bernadette. He won the Pennsylvania state championship in the mile for the class B division in his Junior and Senior years. He was awarded an athletic scholarship to the University of Pittsburgh, graduating with a B.S. degree in Metallurgical Engineering. Don was a career employee of Westinghouse Electric Company. In his 42 years there he authored over 40 technical papers, and held a patent for the manufacture and performance of nuclear fuel. Don enjoyed the domestic and international travel associated with his work. He retired from Westinghouse as the executive in charge of Worldwide Commercial Operations for Nuclear Fuel, including Marketing, Sales and Contract Administration. Don had a zest for life. He and Bernadette were married for over 65 years, and did everything together. They had many outdoor hobbies including: boating, waterskiing, camping, hiking, bicycling, gardening, and riding their motorcycle. Don was a member of the Westinghouse SURE volunteer organization and retiree golf league. He lived a long, very active life, staying mentally sharp until the end, and making the most of every opportunity that came his way. He had a great run. The family held private services, with interment at Saint John the Baptist Cemetery in Scottdale, PA. Arrangements were entrusted to Frank Kapr Funeral Home.
