Don "Skip" Colborn Obituary

Don “Skip” Colborn, 82 of Connellsville passed away Wednesday evening,  July 3, 2024, after a hard-fought battle with cancer. Born on January  9, 1942, the son of the late Rose and George Colborn of Bullskin Twp.

He was a proud U.S. Army Veteran having served in the Vietnam War with the 171st TC Det. 10th Aviation Group, 3rd U.S. Army.  He was the recipient of the AFEM, 2 OS Bar (Viet Nam) attaining the Rank of Specialist 4th Class.   After six years of service with the Army, Skip returned to Connellsville and went to work for U.S. Steel followed by a 32-year career with the PA Turnpike Commission where he retired as a manager.

He was a member of King Solomon’s Lodge 346 and BPO Elks #503. Anyone who knew Skip knew he loved old cars. He not only could restore cars, but he could also modify and customize them, which he enjoyed most.  Skip could build or fix anything. Friends and family could always count on him to help with a project.

He will be remembered for his generosity, quick wit, great sense of humor and his immense love of family.

In addition to his parents, Skip was preceded in death by his brother, James Colborn, his sister Nancy Oswald, his daughter Lynn Gaudiello and his grandson, Seth Moore.

He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Renee Vid Colborn, whom he married January 9, 2000.

His Daughter, Kendra Moore of Connellsville and a granddaughter Paige Pritts (Travis) of Connellsville as well as great grandchildren; Ian Roe, Lincoln Moore and Penny Pritts.  He will also be greatly missed by his surviving siblings, Dick Colborn of Utah, Georgeann (Red) Federici of Ohio and Charlene Feniello of Connellsville as well as their families.

Special thanks go out to the kind doctors, nurses and staff of the Hillman Cancer Center in Frick Hospital where he received excellent care, as well as the staff and doctors with the UPMC Liver Cancer Center.
