David Paul Blystone, 58, known affectionately to friends and family as Paul, passed away on July 5, 2024, at his home in Connellsville, PA, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on August 2, 1965, in Putnam, Connecticut, Paul was a beacon of light and strength to all who knew him.
A proud graduate of Southmoreland High School, Class of 1984, Paul was deeply committed to serving his community. His passion for helping others shone brightly through his work as a Volunteer Fire Fighter. Paul dedicated many years to the Morrell Volunteer Fire Department, where he was not only active in responding to emergencies but also played a pivotal role in organizing benefit and public events. His commitment extended beyond Morrell, as he generously gave his time to various local Volunteer Fire Departments, lending a hand wherever needed.
Paul's service was recognized with numerous certificates of achievement in Fire Fighting, a testament to his skills, dedication, and the respect he garnered among his peers. His involvement with the Fayette County and Pennsylvania State Fireman's Associations further highlighted his unwavering devotion to the field.
Away from the firehouse, Paul's presence was equally impactful. His brothers, Willard O. Blystone with his wife Suzette of Mt. Pleasant, PA, and Jeffery A. Blystone of Johnstown, PA, will fondly remember him for his thoughtfulness and the deep bonds they shared. Paul's special roommates, Steve, Anna, and Jimmy, along with his loving cousins and extended family, will miss his warmth and camaraderie. His loyal canine companion, Sparky, was a constant source of joy and companionship throughout his life.
Paul's legacy is one of selflessness and community spirit. While he was predeceased by his parents, Albert D. Blystone and Carolyn Ruffner Blystone Brilhart, his step-father Richard Brilhart, and his brother Albert D. Blystone, the values they instilled in him lived on through his actions and the lives he touched.
Family and friends are cordially invited to gather and share memories of Paul at the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc., 417 Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale, on Tuesday , July 23, 2024, from 5 PM to 7:30 PM. His Funeral Service will begin at 7 PM with Rev. John Owen, Pastor of the First Christian Church of Greensburg, officiating.
In a heartfelt tribute, Paul's Brother Firemen will gather at 7:15 PM to prepare for the Morrell Fire Department Memorial Service, honoring the life and service of Firefighter Paul Blystone.
Inurnment will follow in Twin Valley Memorial Park, 483 Athena Drive, Delmont, PA, where Paul will be laid to rest next to his Mother It will be a time for reflection on the remarkable life of a man who was the epitome of thoughtfulness and who consistently placed the well-being of others above his own.
Paul's departure leaves an indelible mark on the hearts of those he leaves behind. His life was one of dedication, compassion, and love, and his memory will continue to inspire and guide us. David Paul Blystone's legacy of service and kindness is a testament to the extraordinary life he led and will forever be cherished in the memories of all who were fortunate enough to know him.
