David Banasick Obituary

David P. Banasick, 76, of Fairfax VA., formerly of Scottdale, PA., passed away peacefully on May 23, 2025, in Inova Fairfax Hospital, Fairfax, Virginia. Born on December 14, 1948, in Scottdale, Pennsylvania, the son of the late John J. and Sophie Yelanowski Banasick, who died January 25, 1959 and January 10, 1999 respectively.  David lived a life marked by diligence, warmth, and a love for those around him. His radiant personality and generous spirit left a lasting impact on everyone he met.

David was a proud graduate of Southmoreland High School, class of 1966. His work ethic and commitment to excellence were evident early on and carried through his admirable career as a Parts Manager for his Brother, John's Auto Parts in Connellsville, PA and Washington, PA where he dedicated approximately 30 years of service. In his post-retirement years, David found a new calling in Virginia as a Realtor Agent, guiding many through the significant milestone of finding their homes with patience and expertise.

A patriot at heart, David honorably served in the U.S. Army Reserve Unit, an experience that shaped much of his life and instilled in him the virtues of discipline and respect. These traits, coupled with his innate friendliness, made him a respected colleague and a beloved community member.

David is survived by his daughter, Haley Banasick, and her partner, Jarred Kelly, of Mt. Pleasant, and her mother, Teresa Banasick, also of Mt. Pleasant. David's bond with his family extended to his sister, Geraldine Votilla, and her husband, Rege, of West Mifflin. Together, they shared countless memories, and their support and love for one another were unwavering.

In addition to his Parents, David was preceded in death by:

Sisters: Mary R. McFadden (3-21-2016), Cecilia Cignetti (Nov. 2, 2005), Carolyn Webber (2015)

Brothers: Captain Peter A. Banasick (Jul. 22,1972), John Banasick(Oct. 17, 2016)

David's zest for life was perhaps best expressed on the golf course. His favorite pastime was golfing with his sister Gerry and her husband Rege. On the greens, David's friendly competition and laughter were as bright as the morning sun, and these moments of joy will be fondly remembered by those who had the pleasure of joining him.

A gathering of Family and Friends will be held on Tuesday, June 24, 2025 from 10 AM to 2PM. in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc., 417 Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale, PA.  Immediately following the visitation a procession will proceed to St. John Cemetery, Scottdale, for the Inurnment.
