Carolyn McFadden Obituary

Carolyn Jean McFadden, passed away peacefully in the early morning hours, Sunday, August 4, 2024, at Mountainview Memory Care. Born on July 18, 1932, in Mt. Pleasant, Jean's gentle nature and warm heart touched all who knew her throughout her 92 years. Jean was the cherished daughter of the late Curtis K. Hudson and Anna Katherine Frey Hudson-Gause. Her life was one of dedication and love, a journey that began alongside her loving and faithful husband of 73 years, D. Glenn McFadden, whom she married on June 10, 1951, in Bullskin Twp. Their partnership was a testament to enduring love and mutual respect. A loving mother, she raised two sons, Dan G. McFadden and his wife Mary Jane Tullio McFadden, of Connellsville, and Douglas E. McFadden with his wife Karen Harshman McFadden, of Poland, OH. Jean's joy was multiplied with the birth of her grandson, Chad D. McFadden, and his wife Emily of Elm Grove, Wisconsin, and further still with the arrival of her two great-grandchildren, Miles and Gloria McFadden. Her family was the center of her world, and her love for them was boundless. Jean's life was one of active engagement with her community and a commitment to her passions. A graduate of Scottdale High School Class of 1950, she was a longtime and faithful member of the former Christ United Methodist Church of Scottdale, and presently a member of Mt. Olive Evangelical Church of Bullskin Township. Her career was diverse and fulfilling, from working at the former Style Shop and G.C. Murphy's in Connellsville to serving the Southmoreland School District both in the cafeteria and as a van driver. Her entrepreneurial spirit shone as the owner and manager of the former Triple M Casuals of Scottdale, for eight years and as a co-owner of "I Can't Believe It's Yogurt" for five years. Jean's brother, James E. Hudson and his wife Sylvia of Winston Salem, N.C., and her two sister's-in-law, Astrid Hudson of Montreal, France and Diane McFadden of Mt. Pleasant., will fondly remember her. She was also a beloved aunt to several nieces and nephews. Jean's life was graced by the companionship of her fur baby, Annabelle, a constant source of joy and comfort. Beyond her family and career, Jean had a rich tapestry of interests. She was an accomplished seamstress and quilter, and her voice was a harmonious addition to the church choir at the former CUMC. Square dancing brought her immense pleasure, as did watching her grandson play soccer for the Poland School District. Traveling with her husband, Glenn, and spending time with her good friends Patti Graft of Scottdale and her late Husband, Don Graft were among her favorite pastimes. Jean was preceded in death by her parents and her siblings, Richard W. Robert C. John W. and Gary L. Hudson, and Judith Ann Zipnock. Described by those who knew her as loving and spirited, Jean's presence was a gift to all. Her gentle demeanor, combined with her unwavering spirit, made her a cherished figure in the lives of many. Family and Friends of Jean’s are cordially invited to the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc., 417 Pittsburgh Street, Scottdale, PA 15683, Wednesday from 1-4PM & 6- 8PM and additional Visitation Thursday, from 10AM – 11:45AM with her Funeral Service to begin at Noon, in the Funeral Home with Pastor Lee Maley, Officiating.
