Carole James Obituary

Carole Ann (Livengood) James of Mt. Pleasant went to heaven on Tuesday, April 19, 2022 to rejoin her John, the love of her life, who she forever missed since his passing. (John C. James)

She was the loving daughter of the late Walter C. and Ruth W. (Snyder) Livengood, who raised her and her late brother Harry “Tuffy” Livengood in a happy home in Vanderbilt, PA.

Carole was a proud Baptist and made sure that her children grew up with a strong faith and rich in the knowledge of Jesus’ love.

She graduated from Dunbar High School and went on to attend Alderson Broaddus University.  She loved her years as a librarian at Connellsville High School, where she enjoyed the school community and students.  Later in life she worked as a supervisor at the Rite Aid in Scottdale, where she most enjoyed interacting with people and the many regular friends who would stop and visit.  Carole cared for everyone and always wanted to hear about their lives, families and daily adventures.  She was also able to share the deep pride she held in celebrating her own childrens’ successes and accomplishments.  Carole was known for her warm smiles to greet you and never said goodbye without a hug or “love you”.  She enjoyed giving to others whether it was food, candy, or greeting cards.

At home, Carole enjoyed growing various flowers, being a homemaker, and was militant that her grass never grew too high.  Her whole life, she was a dedicated patriot.  Her love for her country was a path in the footsteps of her mother, who also loved only God and her family more.    After retirement, Carole found great joy and satisfaction in supporting and attending her grandchildrens’ sporting events and activities.  Her loud cheering and heckling of the umpires led to her becoming known and loved as Baseball Grammy.

Carole will forever remain in the hearts of her loving and devoted children: Shawn Ann Kohlhepp (Brian) of Pittsburgh, Fawn “Traci” Bentz (Clarence “Bill”, who was like another son) of Mt. Pleasant and twin brother, John W. “Buck” James (Christy) and Olivia of Connellsville; and grandchildren: Abigail “Abbi” James,  William “Billy” Bentz (who was a great help to his mother as they cared for Carole at home), Joseph “Joey” Bentz, Jack Kohlhepp and Luke Kohlhepp; as well as her loving canine companion, Harley, who never left her side.

Carole’s family will hold a gathering of friends in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683 on Saturday, May 7, 2022 from 9AM – 10AM, at which time her Celebration of Life Service will begin.

Private Inurnment will follow in Green Ridge Memorial Park, Connellsville.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that Memorials be made to Southmoreland Youth Baseball Athletic Association P.O. Box 41 Tarrs, Pa. 15688 in memory of Carole.
