Carol Kelly Obituary

Carol L. Kelly, 92, of Greensburg and formerly of Scottdale, passed away peacefully on March 5, 2025, at RNC of Greensburg. She was born on October 22, 1932, in Connellsville, the daughter of the late Marie Albig Schmitz Poole. Carol's life was marked by the loving and spirited gentleness that endeared her to all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Carol's early years in Connellsville laid the foundation for a life full of warmth and dedication. Her commitment to her community was evident in her long-standing membership at the Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church of Greensburg and the former member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church of Scottdale, there she served on the church altar guild. There, she found solace, strength, and fellowship. Carol's gentle spirit and unwavering faith were sources of inspiration to many within her church family. Professionally, Carol was known for her caring demeanor and diligent work ethic during her tenure as a telephone operator with Bell Telephone Company. Her time spent connecting people at both the Scottdale and Greensburg offices was more than just a career. After her retirement, Carol's loving nature continued to shine through her interactions with family and friends. She leaves behind her beloved sister, Nancy R. Duffield, and her husband, Rev. A. Wayne, of New Alexandria, who will miss her deeply. Her nephew, Mark Duffield and his wife Angela, of Delmont. Her Great Niece and Great Nephew, Emma and Jordan Duffield of Delmont. In addition to her Mother, Carol was preceded in death by: Husband, Byron Kelly, Jr. (May 14, 2015) and Nephew, Brian Duffield (Jan. 14, 2016) Carol's journey through life was a testament to the power of love and kindness. Her smile could light up a room, and her laughter was infectious. She had a unique ability to make each person feel valued and heard, traits that are all too rare in this world. Her presence was a comfort, and her absence will be felt profoundly. Carol’s cremation arrangements have been entrusted to the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683. A Memorial Service will be held on March 29, 2025 at 2PM at Zion’s Evangelical Lutheran Church,140 S. Pennsylvania Ave. Greensburg, Pa. 15601. Following the service a reception of fellowship will be held at the church. Private inurnment will take place in Scottdale Cemetery.
