Bonnie L. (Hixson) Cunningham

Bonnie L. Cunningham, 89, passed away peacefully on November 2, 2024, at the Twin Lakes Rehab Center. Born on September 11, 1935, in Scottdale, the daughter of the late James R. Hixson, Sr. and Daisy M. Ullom McClintock. Bonnie's life was filled with the joy of raising her daughters, Cheryl Febinger of Scottdale and Dawn Faye Brown, along with her husband Scott, of Jacksonville, Florida. The legacy of her love and guidance flourished through the lives of her numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, who will carry her memory forward with each passing generation. While her heart was always with her family, Bonnie also found great solace and purpose in her faith. As a dedicated member of the Alverton United Methodist Church, she served in various capacities, from the Pastoral Parish Committee to a Lay Speaker and Sunday School Teacher. Her commitment to her faith community was a reflection of her belief in service and the power of love to transform lives. In her professional life, Bonnie was a compassionate Licensed Practical Nurse, providing two decades of devoted service to the late Dr. Frank Maida. Her caring nature extended beyond her work, as she was an active member of the former Scottdale Senior Citizens Organization and volunteered her time at Frick Hospital, touching countless lives with her warmth and care. Bonnie's absence will be deeply felt by those who knew her best. In addition to her Parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Walter F. "Red" Cunningham, Jr. (Dec. 27, 2000), and her sons, Mark A. Cunningham (Jun 9, 2015) and Jeffrey L. Cunningham (Sept. 5, 2022), whose memories she cherished until her last breath. Her granddaughter, Valerie Gibson (Jun 30, 2018), Grandson, Christopher Cunningham (Mar.9, 1998), Great-Granddaughter, Hope Rebecca Cunningham (Feb. 07, 2018), and Great-Grandson, Christian James Febinger (Jul 4, 2016).
