Betty J. (Gonda) Maruszewski

The Lord called our beautiful Mother, Betty J. (Gonda) Maruszewski home at the age of 90. She passed away peacefully early Thursday morning, October 12, 2023 in UPMC Presbyterian Hospital, Pittsburgh while being comforted by her loving family. She was born on April 16, 1933 to Michael and Elsie (Bailing) Gonda. She was born in Tarrs, PA and lived in the same house until her passing. Betty was a member of the Partner Parish of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Everson and a former member of the Mt. Pleasant Church of God. She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, Great Grandmother and a loving friend to her neighbors. Betty spent most of her life always taking care of members of her family. She is the last surviving member of her immediate family. She married Peter Maruszewski in February 1967. Our mother, grandmother, and gigi taught us everything except, how to live without her. She will be sadly and forever missed by her daughters, Cynthia L. King (Dave Forgette) of Mount Pleasant, Michele L. (Jim) Shawley of Scottdale, Patricia A. (Raymond) Brandstetter of West Newton and Kristine S. (Bob) Garsteck of Mount Pleasant. She is survived by her grandchildren that meant the world to her, Brandon (Ali) Kite of West Newton, Megan (Ben) Hosty, Bradford, UK, Nicholas Shawley and girlfriend, Jessie Holliday of Owings Mills, Maryland, Kaitlyn Garsteck and boyfriend Kurt Wood of London, UK and Aaron Garsteck of Mount Pleasant. She is also survived by her Three Great Grandchildren that were her little angels, Bryson Kite, Freya Kite, and Jude Hosty which they called gigi. She is preceded in death by her husband, Peter (November 16,2009), her grandson, Stephen King, Jr. (April 8, 1982), and her brothers: John Gonda, Raymond Gonda, Carl Gonda, and sister Evelyn (Gonda) Leeper. Also, she is survived by several nieces. She and her daughters will be forever grateful for her neighbors and second family, Dink (Howard) & Linda Keefer who was the best neighbors ever. Who went above and beyond as a neighbor and friend. Family and Friends of Betty are cordially invited Monday, October 16, 2023 from 2-4PM & 6-8PM in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683. Additional visitation will be held Tuesday, October 17, 2023 from 10AM -11AM at which time her Funeral Service will begin with Pastor Rob Allison, of Mt. Pleasant Church of God, Officiating.
