Barry E. Johnson

Barry E. Johnson, 73 of Scottdale, passed away unexpectedly, Monday evening, November 13, 2023 at his home. He was born April 21, 1950 in East Liverpool, OH the son of the late Ernest H. and Ruth Anne Smail Johnson. Barry was a graduate of Southmoreland High School Class of 1968 as well as a graduate of University of Pittsburgh. Barry was a Photography Instructor for the Art Institute of Pittsburgh for a number of years. He was a proud Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving from 1971 – 1973, with HHC 2/504th Infantry, 82nd Air Born Division as Specialist 4th Grade. He was the recipient of the National Defense Service Medal, Parachute and Hand Grenade Badges. He also received Badges as an Expert with 45 Cal., 30 Cal. weapons and Marksman Badges with the M-60 and the M-79 weapons. Barry was a loving Brother, uncle, and friend to all who knew him. He touched so many lives in the years he shared with all of us. Though we wish there were more, we cherish the time we had with him. Those who remain to Honor Barry’s life are: His Loving Sisters: Susan Barkell Orkney and husband Ken of Naples, Fla. Judith Schumacher and husband David of Eighty-Four, Pa. His Nephew and Nieces: Brett Barkell and wife Yvonne of Mt. Pleasant Bree Charnesky and husband Steven of Scottdale Robert Nadeau and wife Sarah of Donegal And several Great Nieces and Nephews, and Great Great Nieces and Nephews With careful thought and consideration and in accordance with Barry’s wishes, all services will be private.
