Anthony Mucha Obituary

Anthony W. “Tony” Mucha, 85, of Connellsville, (Bullskin Twp.) passed away unexpectedly, Saturday morning, May 10, 2025, at his home. Born on September 1, 1939, also in Connellsville, the son of the late Walter and Margaret Wilseck Mucha. Tony’s life was marked by dedication to his family, his farm, and his country. Tony is survived by a loving family that includes his children: Tony W. Mucha, Jr. of Connellsville, Kimberly Sue Mucha of Scottdale, Deborah Ann Mucha and Brian Leonard of Connellsville, and Cathileen Mucha-Leighty of Scottdale. He was a proud grandfather to Michael A. Mucha and his wife Marissa of Scottdale, Jared Mucha of Michigan, Douglas Leighty and his fiancée Briana, Zakery Leighty and Hannah of Scottdale, Johnathan Leighty and Ashlyn of Reading, Pa., and Adam Mucha and Megan of Uniontown. The joy of his later years was further enriched by his great-grandson, Christian Mucha, and the anticipation of meeting his great-granddaughter, expected to be born in June. Tony was preceded in death by the love of his life, his wife Rosemary T. Mucha, who passed away on June 5, 2016. He also bore the loss of his son-in-law, Doug Leighty, in 2019, and his brothers, Walter and Vince Mucha. A man of faith and community, Tony was a lifelong member of the Partner Parish of St. Joseph R.C. Church and had fond memories of his early education at St. Joseph Parochial School, later attending Fayette County VoTech. A hardworking and dedicated farmer, Tony, along with his beloved wife Rosemary, purchased their farm in 1965, which became not only their livelihood but also a gathering place for family and friends. His commitment to agriculture extended beyond his own land as a member of the Pennsylvania Farm Bureau. Tony's legacy as a farmer is one of generosity and wisdom, traits that were the hallmark of his character and felt by all who knew him. Tony's selfless spirit was also evident in his service to his country. As a proud veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, he served from 1957 until 1960, attaining the rank of Lance Corporal. His dedication to fellow veterans continued through his involvement with the Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post #446 and his membership in the United Auto Workers Union and membership with Marine Corps League of Pennsylvania. Those who knew Tony will remember him as a man of great generosity, always ready to lend a hand or offer a wise word. His selfless nature was apparent in every aspect of his life, from the way he managed his farm to the manner in which he raised his children and loved his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Family and Friends of Tony’s are cordially invited on Wednesday, May 14, 2025 from 2PM – 8PM in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683.
