Adam Derr, Sr. Obituary

 

Adam S. Derr, Sr. 72 of Davis Rd. Dawson, passed away peacefully at his home, Sunday evening, June 19, 2022 while surrounded by his family.

He was born October 1, 1949 in West Newton, Pa. the son of the late Adam S. and Betty M. Griffith Derr.

Adam was a member of the Lower Tyrone Presbyterian Church, Dawson.

He was a Graduate of Hempfield High School Class of 1967. He was a Proud Veteran of the U.S. Marine Corp. and  served during the Vietnam War where he was wounded in action by enemy fire and was a recipient of the Purple Heart.

Adam served on the Board of Directors for various Associations such as, DHIA, PA Holstein Assoc., COBA Select Sires. He was presently serving on the Board for Cochran Cemetery, Dawson.

Adam ran the daily operations of the family farm, Faywest Holsteins, for 50 years, alongside his children and grandchildren and his Late Wife Janice. His greatest blessings were his Grandchildren, he enjoyed spending endless amounts of time with them. He loved to go for drives in the evenings, just to look at all his property.

The family will be forever grateful to his Special Cousins and Friend, Tom and Joel Derr and George Smouse, for all their help and support for Adam.

He was a Loving Father, Grandfather and Brother to his family and a friend to many. Adam was a honorable and kind man who loved his Family and was loved in return.

Adam is gone from our lives but will forever remain the hearts of those who knew and loved Adam,

In addition to his parents, Adam was preceded in death by:

His Father whom raised him, Earl Neubauer

His loving Wife of 47 years, Janice Derr (August 24, 2016)

His Brother, Walter Neubauer

Adam’s family cordially invites family and friends to the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683 on Thursday from 2PM – 9PM.

Additional visitation will be held Friday at the Lower Tyrone Presbyterian Church, Dawson Road, beginning 10:00 AM.  Funeral Services will begin at 11AM with Rev. Jay Shaffer, Officiating. EVERYONE PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH.

Committal Services and Interment will follow in Cochran Cemetery with full Military Honors accorded by the Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post #446 Honor Guard.
