Sophie A. (Surniak) Zozula

Sophie A. Surniak Zozula, 91, of Scottdale, passed away peacefully, Friday morning, December 8, 2017, in Excela Health Frick Hospital, Mt. Pleasant, while being comforted her loving children.
She was born May 12, 1926, in Everson, a daughter of the late Stanley and Anna Garbata Surniak.
Sophie was a devout Catholic and a longtime member of the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist Roman Catholic Church, Scottdale and was also a member of the Church Choir for many years
In her younger years, she was employed as a seamstress in Scottdale, and later was employed by the Southmoreland School District, as a cook, in the cafeteria, with 17 years service.
Sophie was a member of the Scottdale Choral Society, and the Scottdale Garden Club.
She was a loving Mother, Grandmother, and Great Grandmother and enjoyed spending quality time with her family.  She also loved singing and gardening.

Sophie’s Family will greet friends in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Sunday from 2 – 4PM & 6 – 8PM.
Prayers of Transfer will be held Monday at 10:30 AM, in the Funeral Home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 11 AM in the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Scottdale, with her Pastor, Rev. Andrew M. Kawecki, as Celebrant.
Private Committal Services and Interment will be in St. John Byzantine Cemetery, East Huntingdon Twp.
A Parish Wake Service will be held Sunday at 7:45PM in the Funeral Home.
