Rev. Jeffrey Welsh Obituary

Rev. Jeffrey A. Welsh, 65 of Scottdale, formerly of Somerset, peacefully passed away Friday evening, January 25, 2019 at his residence, surrounded by the love of his family.

He was born September 4, 1953 in Somerset, Pa., the son of the late James R. Welsh,Patricia Miller Welsh and his adopted mother, Elaine Welsh.

Jeff had been the Pastor of the Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, Scottdale, for 26  years.

He was a Graduate of Somerset High School Class of 1971. He also was a graduate of Ottawa University, Ottawa, Kansas and a graduate of Lancaster Theological Seminary, Lancaster, Pa. in 1979.

Throughout the years, Jeff served as Pastor in numerous areas, including Stoystown Charge of the United Church of Christ,Stoystown, Pa., Bethel United Church of Christ, Spring Grove, Pa., Christ United Church of Christ, Latrobe, Pa. and lastly, where he had finished his career at Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, Scottdale. Jeff also was a Grief Facilitator, at the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc., for a number of years.

Jeff was involved in various capacities at Camp Living Waters, Schellsburg, Pa. In his spare time, Jeff enjoyed painting, coloring, miniature war gaming and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

Jeff was a loving and devoted Husband, Father, Grandfather and Brother to his family and touched many other lives throughout his career.

Jeff is gone from our lives, but will remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him forever.

His loving and devoted wife of 39 years, Marsha A. Long Welsh, whom he married, May 26, 1979.

Zachary C. Welsh and wife Kalyn of Greensburg

His Two Grandsons:

Wyatt and Henry Welsh

His Siblings:

James R. Welsh of New Wilmington, Pa.

Bill Welsh of Studio City, CA.

Jeff was an honorable and kind man, who loved both his family and Church family, and was loved in return by many.

Family and friends are cordially invited, Tuesday, January 29, 2019, from 2PM -5PM in Hauger- Zeigler Funeral Home, 494 W. Main Street Somerst, Pa. 15501.

Additional visitation will be held Wednesday, January 30, 2019 from 2 -4PM & 6- 8PM in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683.

A Funeral Service for Rev. Welsh will be held Thursday, January 31, 2019, at his church, Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, 106 North Chestnut St., Scottdale, at 11AM with the Rev’s Joseph Beer, Paul Westcoat and David Ackerman, Co-Officiating.

EVERYONE PLEASE GO DIRECTLY TO THE CHURCH.

Private Burial will follow.

Jeff’s family would like to give special Thanks to the Arnold Palmer Pavilion Staff for their exemplary care and compassion they rendered to Jeff and his family, during his illness.

The Funeral Home doors will be locked between visiting hours on Wednesday.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that those who wish to remember Jeff may make memorial gifts  to Trinity Reformed United Church of Christ, 106 N. Chestnut St. Scottdale, Pa. 15683 in his memory.
