Maryann Demagall Obituary

Maryann Demagall, 74 of Mechanicsburg, Pa. formerly of Everson, passed away peacefully in the presence of her family, Thursday evening, July 5, 2018 in Mt. St. Macrina Manor, Uniontown.

She was born in Mt. Pleasant, March 25, 1944 the daughter of the late Joseph Michael and Dorothy Winzek Demagall.

Maryann was a longtime and faithful member of the Partner Parish St. Joseph R.C. Church, Everson.

She was a graduate of the former Scottdale Joint High School Class of 1962. Maryann held four Bachelor’s Degrees: Elementary Education and Mathamatics from the University of California, Pa.,  Geography from Ball State University of Indiana and also a degree in Computer Service.

She also did additional studies at the University of Salzburg, Austria and also Research Fellowship, University of Akron.

Maryann enlisted in the U.S. Women’s Army Corp 1969 and was commissioned as 1st Lieutenant on June 12, 1970. She was then commissioned as Captain on February 2, 1972 and was recognized by the President as a commissioned officer. Maryann was the recipient of numerous medals during the Vietnam War.  Following her Honorable Discharge from the Army, she was employed by the US Navy Maintenance Department, Mechanicsburg, as a civilian, where she wrote, designed and installed the software on Navy Submarines throughout the world, with 25 years of service.

Maryann was also a former educator for the Yough School District at Mendon Elementary.

Maryann is gone from our lives, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved her,

In addition to her parents, Maryann was preceded in death by:

Brother: Richard Demagall (July 30, 2016)

Ronald Demagall (May 22, 2008)

Brother-In-Law: Thomas P. “Screech” Levendosky (Oct. 4, 1994)

Uncle: Victor P. “Peaches” Winzek (Jan. 11, 2016)

Maryann’s family would like to express a sincere Thank You to the following entities who have showed their love and professionalism for Maryann and her family: Mount St. Macrina Manor, Amedysis Hospice Care and Hillman Cancer Center.

Maryann’s family will greet friends in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale Monday from 2 – 4PM & 6 – 8PM.

Prayers of Transfer will be held Tuesday at 9:30AM in the Funeral Home, followed by her Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Partner Parish of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Everson, With her Pastor, Rev Andrew Kawecki, as Celebrant.

Full Military Honors will be bestowed by the Southmoreland Veterans Association, Monday at 7:30PM  at the Funeral Home.

A Parish Wake Service will be held at 7:45 PM also in the Funeral Home, Monday at 7:45PM.

Please note, due to circumstances beyond our control, the Funeral Home doors will be locked from 4PM – 6PM.
