James J. “Pony” Misiak, 89 of McClure, passed away peacefully, Friday morning, Nov. 30, 2018 in the comfort of his home, surrounded in love by his family.

He was born October 28, 1929, in Standard, Mt. Pleasant Twp. the son of the late Andrew and Mary Blaszowski Misiak.

Pony was a long time and faithful member of the Partner Parish of St. Joseph R.C. Church, Everson.

He was a retired employee of County Market, Crossroads Plaza, as a receiver for 10 years. Also he was a former employee of the former Modulas Corp., Mt. Pleasant with 21 years service and was employed at H.C. Frick Coal Co and Eidemiller Construction.

He was a proud U.S. Marine, serving during the Korean War in Operations against enemy forces in control of Korea and attained the rank of Corporal. Pony was also a Veteran of the U.S. Army, Co E. 110th Infantry Battalion, Pa National Guard. He was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal with 3 Bronze Stars, The United Nations Service Medal and the National Defense Service Medal.

He was a member of the V.F.W. Post, American Legion Post, Slovak Club and the Koszcusko Club, all of Mt. Pleasant.

Pony is gone from our lives, but will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew and loved him,

His loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Dorothy Glowacki Misiak, whom he married January 4, 1964.

His Great Great Granddaughter:

His Brother:

William Misiak and wife Isabell of CA.

In addition to his parents, Pony was preceded in death by:

First wife: Geraldine Louise Roman Misiak (1962)

Brother: Vincent Misiak

Pony’s family cordially invites family and friends to the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc. 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale,  Monday from 2 – 4PM & 6 – 8PM.

Prayers of Transfer will be held Tuesday at 9:30AM in the Funeral Home, with his Funeral Mass to follow in the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Scottdale, with Rev. Richard Kosisko, as Celebrant.

Committal Services and Interment will follow in St. Joseph Parish Cemetery, Everson.

In Lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorials be made to Shriners Hospital for Children, 1645 W. 8th St. Erie, Pa. 16505 or St. Jude research Hospital 600 Waterfront Dr. #210 Pittsburgh, Pa. 15222.

Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post will conduct full Military Honors at the Funeral Home, Tuesday at 9:00 AM
