Gene Cunningham Obituary

Gene T. Cunningham, 90 of Scottdale, East Huntingdon Twp., passed away early Wednesday morning, August 22, 2018, in the comfort of his home, surrounded in love, with his family at his side.

He was born July 27, 1928 in Tarrs, the son of the late Hamilton and Mary Morvosh Cunningham.

Gene was a longtime and faithful member of the Partner Parish of St. John the Baptist R.C. Church, Scottdale.

He was a graduate of the former East Huntingdon High School, Class of 1946. Gene was a retired Laborer with General Motors Corp., Dravosburg, with 42 loyal years of service.

He was a member and past Exualted Ruler and Secretary of the Scottdale Elks BPOE 777, as well as a member of the Polish American Club, Everson, Social Member of the Scottdale Firemen’s Club and the Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post #446.

Gene was a proud Veteran, serving during Peace Time with, the U.S. Army

Gene was a loving and devoted husband, Father, Grandfather and Brother to his family, he will be deeply missed by his wife of 63 years, Phyllis L. Shandorf Cunningham, whom he married September 17, 1955;

Christopher Hawkins of Pittsburgh

Cody Hawkins of Scottdale

Anthony Cappa and wife Jessica of Pittsburgh

And Angela Onuska and husband Sam of Pittsburgh

His Sister:

Lillian Kattera of Tarrs

Brother-In-Law:

William Prinkey of Scottdale

And a number of Nieces and Nephews

In addition to his parents, Gene was preceded in death by:

Sister: Shirley Prinkey

Brother-In-Law: Edward Kattera

Gene’s family will greet friends in the Frank Kapr Funeral Home, Inc., 417 Pittsburgh St. Scottdale, Friday from 2PM – 8PM.where Prayers of Transfer will be held Saturday at 9:30 AM followed by his Funeral Mass at 10 AM in the Partner Parish of St. John The Baptist Church, Scottdale, with his Pastor, Rev. Andrew M. Kawecki, as Celebrant.

Committal Services and Interment will follow in St. John Parish Cemetery, Scottdale, with full Military Honors accorded at the Gravesite by the Mt. Pleasant American Legion Post #446, Honor Guard.

The Scottdale Elks will hold a Memorial Service in the Funeral Home Friday at 6:30PM.

A Parish Wake Service will be held Friday at 7:45PM in the Funeral Home.
